Farm to table became trailer park to restaurant...
Disappointing return visit. We were excited to come back with a group on our recent visit, but it was not at all what we had hoped for. The service was not even close to what we had the same time last year. The staff was not communicating with each other. We had one waitstaff member ask if we wanted anything else after dropping plates at our table, took an order for a Bloody Mary, and 10 minutes later still nothing. Then, at that 10 minute mark our waitress checked back in with us and when we asked about the Bloody Mary she said it was never put in. Food temps were all over the place at a table of 6. Even the food portions were different. We ordered 2 sides of toast and you would have never guess they came from the same kitchen. One side had 2 small pieces and the other had 3 large pieces. Very odd. Or the side of bacon that had 2 decently cooked pieces, 1 well done piece, and 1 hardly cooked piece. We felt like this a bacon sampler...
What really blew our minds was another table of 6 that had three men in their 40’s wearing only bathrobes. When I say only I mean “only”. My wife had the misfortune of seeing one of the guy’s balls. He legitimately had it all out there for all of us to see. Seriously, who wears “only” a robe to have breakfast at a high-end resort. Why was this even allowed? For a place that charges $800+ a night I would have thought the staff would asked the guys who show up in robes (and drinking Heineken beers) that they need to wear...
Read moreArrived for a 1 p.m. reservation for 4 people. The valet was very attentive and friendly.
Must've been shift change, because we waited 10 minutes to be seated in an empty restaurant by a different hostess. Found out it was a Sunday brunch menu, not lunch, which limited the choices. The server came by after about 5 minutes. We ordered drinks and food. We were able to order a couple of appetizers from the bar menu to give us more variety.
The drinks came in about 20 minutes. 15 minutes after that, an unknown person came out to ask the two people in our party who had ordered Ceasar Salads if they wanted chicken or shrimp on their salads (neither - and shouldn't the server have asked that at the time of order?). About 15 minutes later the server asked if we'd like another order of drinks (no thanks). Still no food.
It was roughly another 10 minutes before the food arrived. The Eggs Benedict and the fish and chips were just barely warm. The appetizers and mains all came out together. The flavors were pretty good, but nothing to write home about.
The server NEVER stopped by to check on the quality of our food.
Very disappointing experience for what was a highly rated Napa Valley restaurant. We would not recommend this place. Even if you're staying at this hotel (which had very lovely grounds), you could walk or drive to MANY places with equal or better food that would provide a much...
Read moreOverall food was average and service subpar. Unfortunately Lucy's doesn't match the level of service that bardessono offers.
Fried avocado was really good, albeit least healthy . Ahi tuna was 3 very small pieces of tuna , average taste. Beef short rib was ok, but needed to cooked longer and be more tender. Polenta was too heavy with butter and cream and all I could taste
Duck was way overcooked, even though we ordered medium and didn't feel sending it back since it took 25mins for main course to come out after appetizers , even though there was only 1 more table in the restaurant. Side of Mushrooms and vegetables local, fresh and super tasty even though we requested to be cooked in olive oil , and not butter.
Our bottle of wine was opened and served a glass to us once, remainder of the meal we had to fill our glasses and remind them to fill up our water glasses despite 3 different waiters switching serving us.
I guess there is a reason the place was not busy at all during the week we stayed at bardessono , even though all restaurants in the area were always booked and full every night. I hope they make some changes to improve their food offerings and service in order to stay competitive with other restaurants in the...
