It's a nice little place. As everyone stated, "super friendly staff" because no staff talks to you, greets you, welcomes you, besides calling for your order. LOL! It's honestly not a welcoming place and throws off the vibe. It was very silent and quiet! WEIRD!!!!!!! No music was playing whatsoever, and I wanted to leave - FAST - without feeling awkward.
I honestly won't be back though. It's not my cup of tea. I don't like the kiosk option. And good thing I read the fine print and disabled the "automatic 20% mark-up tip" on my order. Because after taxes with the forced 20% tip, there's no way to justify paying almost $13 for a rolled green tea ice cream for such a small cup. When I can easily buy 1 gal of green tea ice cream at Grocery outlet for a fraction of the price or at Costco. See photo for the size, and that's $10 after disabling the 20% mark-up tip at the kiosk.
Pros: -Fast to make order -Restroom is clean since Day 4 from Grand Opening on July 13. And July 17 was my first time trying out which is today.
Cons: -Kiosk adds an automatic 20% mark-up tip! SO customers beware. -NO Veterans/Military discount. The kiosk won't let you do it to trust and verify by showing your ID. LOL! And there's no cashier available. -Everything is too pricey! I still prefer going to Cafe Maiko in Sacramento when I'm out visiting family in the Greater Sacramento Area. Green Tea ice cream is much more reasonable for only $5 before taxes, and there's an actual cashier who can help you and doesn't force a 20% mark-up tip like the kiosk does at this specific location at RYM's. LOL! SHAME...
Read moreI agree with the comments that understand where small businesses are coming from. If you paid enough attention you'd see exactly how calmly they speak to you. For one, you are new to them as they are to you. Give new businesses a chance and in a year or two they'll have your order like the back of their hands. Hubby and I enjoyed our drinks just fine and if you've ever been to any other boba shop they also do kiosks but they never said you couldn't ask them any questions. You can always find cheaper elsewhere but you can't find quality everywhere. When we went literally a mother had her daughter carrying 3 drinks and they spilled a whole drink! And they didn't hesitate to make a new one and made sure it was exactly like the one that was spilt. I didn't hear a thank you or even given a tip for the generosity. The owner she even asked us if we wanted extra just because we had to wait a little longer to make up for them. We politely declined because we were there to just support as a couple of new faces. It costs nothing to be nice and support people on their new journey. We're going to go back to try their rolled ice cream since their delivery didn't arrive yet but we're looking forward to it! I wish them well, keep up...
Read moreI was excited to get a boba place on this side of town but was disappointed after trying it twice. To start off you order for yourself on the kiosk, you choose organic whole milk or creamy milk, I wasn’t sure which one is “the usual” so I just went with whole milk. I got the taro milk tea and it was like they put half the amount of taro. Very bland and wasn’t sweet enough. It took 10 minutes to get my drink with only 1 other customer getting ice cream. I decided to give it another try and got the Thai tea smoothie. This drink was a lot better but still wasn’t very impressed. Also beware it automatically adds a tip unless you change it. I couldn’t remember how much I paid but looking online it’s an outstanding $8.99 for a milk tea. Thats over $2 more expensive than elsewhere. I wanted to like this place since it’s blocks away from home and in the same shopping center as many of my go to stores. But overall I’ll be continuing to go to my boba spot on the other side of town. I’ll try again maybe in a few months when they’re more...
