Wife and I Stopped in on the way through yuma, the food was bad at best. When we walked in there were 2 other groups sitting and eating. They left within 5-8 minutes after we arrived. We ordered our food which came to the table in waves. I was half way done eating by the time my wife's food came out. The other 2 parties had left and we were the only ones in the place. As we finished our food another couple came in and sat down, 10 minutes later they got up and left due to no employees being anywhere to be found. They were never greeted nor did any staff members ever once appear in this time span. My wife and I sat for close to 20 minutes wanting for our bill. Finaly after yelling "hello" multiple times into the back area of the place someone came in from the back door and helped us pay our tab. As we walked to our car we saw all 3 employees sitting at a park bench outside the back of the restaurant. Like they were having a day at the park. As for the restaurant itself, it was filthy, the blinds were nasty dirty, and the floors looked like they don't own a mop or broom. The decor, well it's your typical diner trying to imitate an old 50s diner, and doing a poor job of it at best. As for the staff, well don't you dare bother them while they're at work because as a customer you're just in their way and an annoying person who wants some food from their restaurant. And you better not even think about getting a refill on your iced tea because that's just not going to happen, it would require a an employee to do their job, which doesn't happen here. As for would I recommend this place, not a chance. In fact it's quite the opposite, I would recommend you don't waste your time with this place. The food was not good at all, the service was non existent and when we did see an employee we were made to feel unwanted and in the way.. the service was so bad that on the tip section of our receipt I didn't write in a dollar amount for a tip, I instead wrote " tip, bet the 5 horse in the 3rd race" The sad part is this place has great potential due to its location and proximity of the freeway and all the local hotels. Unfortunately they have the laziest , rudest, staff I've ever encountered.. DONT GO EAT HERE YOU WILL BE...

Road trips aren’t for everyone. I get that. Personally I love them and one of the reasons is planning where to spend the night when you’ve just had enough driving for one day. That place is neither home nor your desired destination. It’s the in-between. The there, but not “there” yet.
During our Flagstaff road trip we spent a day in Phoenix, which meant that getting home that night would likely stretch us beyond our safest limits, so we planned a layover before completing the rest of the drive home the following day. It was while arriving at our hotel in Yuma, Arizona, that we noticed a 24-hour diner within walking distance. Oh, yeah. Our agenda for the next morning just became clear: experience “Penny’s Diner.”
From the exterior it appeared to be the quintessential “greasy spoon.” Sadly, such places are often overlooked and under appreciated, but I find the charm of an inexpensive diner undeniable. Hold the pretense and just hit me with some comfort food and a side of friendly service!
The first things you’ll notice when you enter Penny’s are the carefully curated 50’s music playing, the associated time period memorabilia, and the sizzling of the grill. Ah, ambiance!
Inspired by this experience I’ve decided that if I ever run for city council my campaign platform will include a resolution that all “greasy spoons” located within city limits be required to serve hash browns with every meal. Order of eggs? Your side of hash browns are part of the package. How about oatmeal, a bran muffin, or bowl of cereal? Yep, they all come with a crispy friend.
I may need a little help squeezing my campaign slogan onto the yard signs though.
“Hash browns with every meal. That’s not just common sense…it’s the law!” 😉
And that’s…Henry’s...
Read moreWe arrived and signed in to wait to be seated. Not a big deal that's the way places are on Sundays. We took a look and saw that 3 tables were waiting to be cleaned. We waited and waited and waited and eventually half an hour went by and someone finally came out and called some names. Idk why it took them half an hour to clean some tables but whatever. So posted all over the doors and tables there are signs that say social distancing strictly enforced. The tables have dividers so you can only sit in every other booth or table. We walked in holding our masks and the lady behind the counter said oh you don't need to wear a mask lol so what is it? Social distancing strictly enforced or you don't need to wear a mask lol.
So we sit down and we are told we can only use a menu from a QR code. I don't like QR scanners because they are all spyware and trackers. What can I do but put a QR code reader on my phone. Scan after scan after scan the menu will not open so finally I copy the hard link and open the menu. In the meantime flys are all over the windows and landing on our heads. I told the waitress and she said yeah I know they are in here.
After all that I must admit the food was really good and the price was very reasonable. Our waitress was a sweetheart and still the food was really good.
All that said IDT we would be back again. The first impression is the most important and IDK if it was the masks or the lack of service at the beginning or maybe it was the flys. Although the food was good it wasn't good enough to make...
