La Corte Restaurant — Restaurant in Montevideo

If you go from The United States or USA. To this place I will not recommend you to go to this place. You will waste your time here. This place is usually full with local people and to my impression when they see strangers there they will not serve you. I was at this place on 2011 and I went in and seat in the Bar for like 45 minutes and no one served me the bartender just served and talked to the locals and completely ignored me. Thanks god I was alone and not with my family. I left an never returned or will return to this place. Even the people there I asked them some questions and ignored my questions. I believe this is like the snobbish people of Uruguay that frequently go to this place. So do yourself a favor and go somewhere else less snobbish and less busy. I will recommend you to go to Las Cumbres Hotel...

La Corte has to be one of the most overrated restaurants in Montevideo. I only give it 2 stars because the place is beautiful, but if you are looking for a great value, look elsewhere. At noon you have several menu options with several dishes that goes from around 15 to 40 US$. All of them with a drink and a dessert. But the food is as simple as it can get. Last time I went for the pricier menu and ask for a Kassler with apple pure. The kassler (smoked pork chops) were literally just heated in the pan. And I´m guessing the apple pure was from a can. They advertise healthy food, but please... not even salt? that's just lazy cooking. And the other previous times had been the same. Queríamos probar el lugar porque no lo conocíamos pero apenas llegamos noté que la recepcionista nos miró de arriba a abajo como insinuando que no deberíamos estar ahí, cuando nos sentamos no fué capaz de darnos la carta o de asegurarse que algún mesero tomará cuenta de nosotros. El personal conversaba en grupos de más de tres personas en la barra mientras esperábamos que alguién nos atendiera, pasaron por la mesa tres personas incluyendo la recepcionista y nadie paró para ver si necesitábamos ser atendidos aún cuando yo miraba para todos lados buscando servicio, me cansé de esperar y me levanté a pedir el menú y el mesero muy descaradamente me dijo que no sabía que estábamos ahí cuando lo miré varias veces mientras conversaba con sus colegas en el bar dando la impresión de que estuviera en su descanso.Bien podría estarlo, que no creo que fuera el caso, pero debió haberse acercado apenas vio que estábamos necesitando ayuda. Después de un rato de esperar y de ser ignorados por los que estaban cerca de la mesa apareció una chica que creo que venía de arreglar el segundo piso y nos preguntó si queríamos ordenar pero para ese entonces ya estábamos sin ganas de quedarnos y nos retiramos. Un consejo para los que trabajan en el área, no discriminen a sus clientes, sáquense de la cabeza la mentalidad de que la apariencia lo es todo. Infelizmente en el sector gastronómico uruguayo se desvaloriza al cliente cuando se cree que no irá a gastar lo suficiente o no irá a dejar una buena propina, eso nunca se sabe y nadie merece ser ignorado mucho menos si ya está sentado en una de sus mesas.
