I returned to Plantado after a long, COVID inspired,"holiday". I tried the Sunday Brunch on their first Sunday in 2024, the place was full and they were understaffed so table service was slow and it showed in the harried looking wait staff.
The cold table/salads were as they were before: thin and not at all inspiring, mostly veggies, hardly any cheeses. No better than their pre covid offering.
The Entradas were a different thing entirely: create and we'll prepared and presented with pretty nice choices.
The Main Course was a little less adventurous with a chicken, pasta type selection. That said the chicken was properly cooked as asked and nicely seasoned.
The desert assortment was fine if not outstandingly special and a nice finish to the meal.
The real issue was the price/value relationship which was too expensive at $1890 before service. Restaurants hope their food costs are around 35% and hotels generally price up so their food costs are 25-30% but given what they served and what they charged , I really think they should re address...
Read moreService was very slow. People started walking up to the kitchen to get attention from the waitstaff. Waitstaff never checked if things were alright, even if you just kept staring in their direction they would not see you. There was more than enough staff and only 1 in 3 tables were occupied when I was there. It's also the only restaurant in Montevideo that does not have steak knives (or at least that's what the waitress told me). Also they like to do "funny twists" on the original dish. Their lasagna is actually a sandwich with a type of bland ragout inside and a lot of cheese on top. Their tiramisu is an ice cream with some coffee taste instead of a proper creamy tiramisu. Steak which was requested medium came out mostly medium-well. All around disappointment. I went here twice thinking the first time was a fluke....

Between the three meals I ate here the first two were simply bad and for the third I was served undercooked meat and given food poisoning. The prices when compared to the quality of food are outrageous and even their special new years dinner had me filling up on things that the restaurant didn't make like bread and cold cuts.
