I stayed here 4 nights over the Christmas holiday. I received some benefits as an Hyatt member. The hotel's location on the waterfront Rambla was excellent [5.0]. Although the surrounding neighborhood was generally quiet in the back of the hotel, car noise is obviously prevalent in the front of the hotel. The hotel is very nicely designed.||The assigned room, which was in the back of the hotel, was excellent [5.0]. It was large, clean, nicely appointed, and quiet! I heard nothing in that room. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were so soft. I just wish the room had a lounge or reading chair, as I don't like to sit on a bed. The bathroom was very large, with a separate shower. The AC was difficult to operate until maintenance explained it to me; I was initially told I could not control it. Shower water pressure and temperature were excellent. ||Staff service was excellent [5.0] throughout the entire hotel. I became very sick with a cold virus during my stay. Staff arranged an onsite doctor visit and a pharmacy run. Staff also translated with the doctor. They went above and beyond what I expected. English was widely spoken by staff members throughout the hotel, which is always very much appreciated! Most staff were friendly and approachable. ||The breakfast buffet was good [4.1], with an array of choices to serve various tastes. The food was good. However, the food I ordered in the bar wasn't very good. I believe it was mostly frozen food, reheated. The pizza was almost inedible. ||The gym facility was excellent [5.0], had I used it. But, I didn't use it...
Read moreWe recently stayed at the Hyatt Centric in Montevideo, and while there were definitely some highlights, our overall experience left us feeling underwhelmed.||||Let’s start with the positives. The location is absolutely unbeatable—steps from the Rambla and within walking distance to great restaurants, shops, and the river. The lobby is gorgeous, modern, and inviting—exactly what you’d hope for when arriving at a Hyatt-branded property. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, and we genuinely appreciated their professionalism… with the exception of one male bartender whose attitude could use a little polishing.||||Now for the not-so-great parts.||||The room itself felt small and cramped, which was manageable—but the cleanliness (or lack thereof) was disappointing. The bathroom wasn’t thoroughly cleaned, and the overall condition of the room didn’t reflect the standards we’ve come to expect from Hyatt. We were surprised that the room didn’t have an iron or ironing board—a small thing, but worth noting for travelers who like to look halfway put-together.||||Honestly, if the room had been cleaner and a bit more thoughtfully maintained, we might have looked past the other details. But given the price point, we expected more.||||Would we return? Probably not—unless the rate was significantly lower and we had some kind of assurance that the rooms were better maintained.||||It’s a shame, really. This hotel has all the makings of a great stay, but unfortunately, the rooms just...
