I’ll start with the positives, the atmosphere is superb; great music with wonderful lighting in a high ceiling room. The banh xeo was crispy and you should definitely get the egg coffee. The positives end there.
Firstly, the banh xeo although crispy, lacked a lot of flavour. To compensate, you would typically dip with Nuoc mam (fish sauce) but they give you a small little dish with approx 30 Mls. With the banh xeo, they give you a side of salad but it is barely enough to eat any of the banh xeo with. You may think, just order more, we did, however service was slow where it took over 10 minutes to get 3 more pieces of lettuce. The business only had three tables and a bunch of staff talking behind the counter. The mango smoothies were sour and near tasteless instead of being sweet. Look, these complaints would be fine if the price point was low but it is excessive at around 800-900k dong to feed three people, for four mains and drinks. Considering you can get banh xeo for a fraction of the cost along with the other dishes we ordered on the street or other local eateries, it kinda feels like a restaurant for tourists too afraid to venture into the local restaurants. These reviews they got are either bought or from naive and inexperienced tourists who have yet to venture out of their comfort zone. I am actually saddened I wasted money here.
The staff was good, service was slow (got our drinks served when we were around 75% done...
Read moreThis was my second time eating here, and once again the food was excellent—but what really stands out is the service.
As a travel vlogger who’s constantly out and about, I’ve learned how important it is to be treated kindly, especially in a country where the language is so hard to pick up (Vietnamese feels impossible when you only speak English, lol).
They use a QR code system for ordering and requesting assistance, which I think is genius. My only small suggestion would be for the wait staff to check in on guests even if no one has pinged them through the app—since it’s a new concept for me, I totally forgot about it at first and couldn’t understand why no one was coming by. Once I figured it out, though, they were right on top of things 😅.
There was also a little mix-up with my order, but they immediately offered to fix it and even added something extra as an apology. That kind of service goes a long way.
Food-wise: Chicken fried rice: 10/10 Coconut coffee: 10/20 Don't skip...
Read moreI thought the other negative reviews might be fake reviews, but I just ordered here on Grab, and, unfortunately, they are all correct. Please don't order from here.
My shrimp were very clearly EXPIRED. They smelled horrific - like rotten egg - and my whole apartment still stinks from them. If I had been careless enough to eat them, I might be in the hospital. For simple Hanoi rolls this expensively priced (over 100k VND???), this is not just an unacceptable - it's an outrage. A restaurant at this price point should be selling their customers expired food.
As other reviews point out, the Banh Xeo (pancake) is absolutely flavorless. It is way too thick and not well seasoned at all.
I'm really disappointed. This place was quite highly rated, and I spent nearly a 1m VND here. I feel completely ripped off and very frustrated. No refund of any kind has been offered for this outrageously bad experience. Please don't make the same...
