On arrival to this hotel we were met with unsmiling reception staff who largely tried to ignore us. Felt like we were inconveniencing them.|We had booked 3 months previously asking for our two rooms to interconnect or be beside each other as we were with our teenage children. No, we were on two separate floors and told there was no room availability to be beside each other. After asking if the request was on the reservation, it was confirmed that the request was there. I questioned why it had been ignored and suddenly rooms together were found. |Those rooms turned out to be the worst rooms we have ever seen in all our years travelling. One was worse than the other. |On opening the door we were hit with the odour of damp and mould. The bathroom has/is leaking and the exterior wall to the bathroom is damaged due to this leakage. All around the bath and bathroom blind black mould was present. Tiles above the door were damaged.|The carpet was filthy. Stained with several holes, from what looked like old cigarette burns. The flip flops provided to wear in the room had been worn before, you could see toe imprints on them. Is that hygienic? Plantar warts are contagious.|The bed was hard and you could feel the springs in it. I complained 3 times about the smell and mould, we got an apology but no offer to rectify. |Next morning, breakfast 6am to 9:30. |Got there for 8 am. We were greeted by a hotel guest coughing over the sushi. The food is aimed mostly at Chinese travellers. |Whilst waiting at the bread station I happened to look down at a bowl of pate and couldn’t believe what I was seeing, a cockroach. I called over a breakfast manager and she confirmed that it was a cockroach and took the bowl into the kitchen but left the door open. I could see another member of staff picking the cockroach out and stomped on it. Hope he washed his hands. We saw another dead cockroach on the floor and another by the cleaning station alive. |The poor girl apologised and said they would clean. It wasn’t her fault. The hotel owners should be fumigating regularly.|Needless to say we decided we’d take our chances else where for breakfast after this. Danang has some amazing breakfast spots, food outstanding.||The hotel is in desperate need of maintenance. Rooms need a deep clean, carpet replacing, damaged walls repaired and fumigating.|This hotel caters largely to the Chinese coach tour market, they dominate the lobby and reception at peak times. It felt like a truck stop at times.|This is not a dig at who are mainly the hotels clientele but an insight into the hotels view of quantity over quality. In their constant need to fill rooms they have forgotten to maintain the star rating they boast about. This hotel is more like a 2 star.|Good luck if you choose to stay at this hotel. We couldn’t wait to leave.|On a brighter note, we saw no evidence...

Read moreNickel & Dime, and in Decline – Please Consider Carefully Before Booking This Hotel. It Is Definitely Not a 5-Star Hotel.
Overall Impression: Despite its “Luxury” branding, Mường Thanh Luxury Đà Nẵng is a fading property that nickel-and-dimes guests while offering few of the basics expected from a 5-star hotel. My 4-night stay in a Grand Suite was defined by frustration, disappointment, and constant upcharges.
Nickel & Dime Examples:
Charged extra for my 7-year-old son’s breakfast even though both adults’ breakfasts were included.
Charged extra for my son’s bed/cot.
Breakfast ends at 9:30 AM, earlier than the standard 10 AM at comparable hotels. Not refilling food trays. The buffet is not worth paying for — better to eat at nearby cafes or restaurants.
No ironing board in-room or also not available when we asked the desk staff in the lobby.
Most room service menu items were unavailable (see attached photo).
2 and sometimes 3 elevators were out-of-service during our stay.
Room (Grand Suite, 16th Floor): Large space and a spectacular ocean view — the only redeeming feature of this stay. However, the room had a foul odor upon entry, likely from the carpet or air-conditioning. The king bed was extremely old; it bounced with every movement.
Housekeeping: Efficient and polite. No issues.
Room Service: Essentially non-existent due to most menu items being unavailable. We gave up trying after the second night.
Breakfast Buffet: A continuation of the “nickel & dime” experience. Food was bland and poorly maintained. Dishes were not replenished even with over an hour left before closing. “Crispy bacon” was steamed and rubbery. The egg station chef appeared disinterested, wearing a dirty uniform and showing no care for presentation or service.
Final Thoughts: This property feels neglected and poorly managed. The repeated extra charges, broken amenities, and poor food quality make it impossible to justify the “Luxury” or “5-star” label.
To management — please skip the standard template response about “knowing earlier” or “taking action.” Guests deserve better than excuses for problems that are clearly systemic.
Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) Excellent view, decent housekeeping, but overall an overpriced and declining hotel that trades on a name it no...
