Oh boy, where to start with this one. I suppose at the beginning. I’ll break this down into three problem areas: Service, Atmosphere and finally Pizza. I apologize in advance for the math.
First service. Getting there initially, we were able to get a seat outside and the menu was given to us quickly. Our order was taken a few pizzas and a few beers (some issues there too, see Pizza). Then 5 or so minutes pass and they come by to take our order again. We tell them that already happened and they leave again. Many more minutes later I flag them down to ask about our drinks, which still hadn’t arrived. Then we start to wonder if our food will come at all. However, eventually it did. All good. Payment was a bit tricky as he couldn’t figure out the card machine, but you can pay by card if you’re rather patient. As a side note, they unsolicitedly bring you wet tissues to the table to wash your hands… but they are not free. They cost you 5k each. They don’t tell you that until it’s randomly on your bill. So, service plus them being cheap by charging for a wet tissue is the first dropped star.
Next, atmosphere. If you sit outside you’ll be harassed rather regularly by the phone screen repair people. I think we had 4 or 5 different people come during our whole dinner. The next was the power going out due to them tripping a breaker. We sat in the dark for awhile as it took a bit for them to figure out. But then all good. Also, there was a few tables of grab drivers waiting to get pizzas for delivery. So you have a good stream of them going by you all the time too if you want to sit outside. Another lost star for the collective chaotic ambiance.
And lastly, the pizza. It’s actually really good! The burrata was great, the dough was good. My issue comes with the sizing. We wanted two small pizzas as to not have to get the flavor blend of a split pizza. However, they were “out” of the small size. I don’t even know how that is possible if you offer bigger sizes. So, besides the flavor mixing, what’s the problem? After all, two small pizzas cost the same as the medium pizza, in our case 175k. Well… let’s do some math. Two 22cm pizzas or one 30cm pizza, which is bigger? Which would you rather have? For those too lazy to do the math, I got you. Two 22cm pizzas is 760.27cm². One 30cm pizza is 706.86cm². That means by ordering the larger pizza you actually get 53.41cm² less pizza. That’s 7% less pizza for the same price. Now, if you’re thinking… “pointing this out and doing all that math is about as silly as charging for wet tissues,” well, I agree with you. Another lost star.

Read moreDoes Olivia’s in An Thuong have different owners? An Thuong is always good but don’t have pasta dishes so I’ve chosen this restaurant to buy pizza and pasta. First attempt the Spaghetti Bolognese had chilli or some unsavory spice in it. Couldn’t eat it. Who puts chilli spices in bolognese? The carbonara pizza was soggy and tasteless. Added my own ingredient to make it eatable. They refunded the money for the bolognese. Another delivery I had chicken and mushroom pizza. Again soggy. Tasteless. I added a heap of Parmesan cheese to make it eatable. The spaghetti carbonara was very small with no Parmesan cheese. The meat in the dish was so chewy I couldn’t even eat it. I removed the meat and ate the pasta. I thought I’ll give them one last chance. Delivery order again. Hawaiian pizza. What a joke. They blamed the grab driver. The carbonara again was so chewy it was uneatable. NEVER AGAIN. They still haven’t read my reply to their pathetic excuses. So...

The pizza was the absolute highlight of our visit. The crust was perfectly baked—crispy on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside.
