As my wife and I stepped into Bladi to celebrate our anniversary, we had high hopes for an extraordinary evening. Little did we know that our experience would surpass all expectations, creating a memory that would be etched in our hearts forever.
Our evening began with a warm welcome from the owner himself, who took us to our beautifully set table. We were immediately struck by the fragrant aroma of exotic spices that wafted from the open kitchen. The ambiance was set, and our senses were already tingling with anticipation.
Now, let's talk about the star of the evening: the food. The cuisine at Bladi was unlike anything we had ever experienced. Every dish was a symphony of flavors and colors that danced on our taste buds.
One particular highlight was the briwats. They were both savory and sweet, unlike anything I had tasted before. They had a depth of flavor that left us craving more. The presentation of each dish was also a work of art, with vibrant colors and intricate patterns that showcased the culinary skill of the chef.
Speaking of the chef (the owner), we were absolutely touched by his generosity. He surprised us with a stunning bouquet of flowers. They absolutely added an extra layer of romance to our celebration. What made it even more special was that he didn’t charge us a single penny for it. It was a heartfelt gesture that truly made our anniversary unforgettable.
The service throughout the evening was impeccable. The chef was knowledgeable about the menu, offering well thought out recommendations. He was attentive without being intrusive, making us feel like honored guests in his kingdom.
To top it all off, we ended our evening with a decadent dessert that was the perfect finale. I highly recommend the rose crepes, a new addition to the menu. They are unlike anything I have tasted before.
Our anniversary celebration at Bladi was nothing short of magical. The combination of exquisite Moroccan cuisine, a charming ambiance, and the chef's thoughtful gestures made it an evening we will cherish forever. If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable dining experience, look no further than Bladi. We can't wait to return in the near future. Thank you for going above and beyond, and for making our anniversary truly...
Read moreWe traveled to Danang for only 4 days, visiting Bladi based on a friend's recommendation and the good reviews on Google. Despite our high expectations, Chef Samir, aka the owner, did not fail to meet the high standard. Having visited many Michelin-starred and Asia’s Top 50 restaurants, we can confidently say that the food at Bladi can compete with those, yet is much more affordable.
We had Chef Sam recommend dishes to us, and here we go the detailed comments on each dish:
Briwats (10/10!!!) It is stuffed with chicken and other savory fillings, a bite-sized appetizer perfectly fried to a golden crisp (not oily at all!). I'm not sure if this is the typical recipe, but the icing sugar on top is definitely a game-changer, making the savory dish super interesting.
Denjan Pastilla (10/10!!!) Since I mentioned my love for eggplant, Chef Sam recommended this dish to us. I truly loved how he sliced the eggplant into thin layers, covering minced mushroom, lamb, raisins, feta cheese, and other flavorful ingredients. The combination elevated both taste and texture. As an eggplant lover, we finished the dish in 3 minutes!
Kefta Tagine (9/10) The lamb meatball is soft, juicy, and flavorful. Baked with mechoiua sauce, tomatoes, and runny eggs, this dish is a bread-killer! However, the most amazing part is their homemade Moroccan bread – freshly baked, hot, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The dough smells amazing and pairs perfectly with the Kefta. The reason I give it a 9/10 is that I wish there were four meatballs… I want more! :(
Crème Brûlée (8/10) This special version is peanut butter and dark chocolate flavored. Nothing overpowers the other, and it is not overly sweet either.
The place is cozy and clean, the food is fresh and tasty, and the host is warm and friendly. We had a truly satisfying dinner here and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a good meal. =]
Again, much appreciation to Chef Sam for all your efforts in preparing this menu and excellent food. Hope to visit...
Read moreSat down in this restaurant with my girlfriend and was excited to try this place. Unfortunately we had a bad experience. I asked our host a couple of simple questions about the mint tea and the menu, and was met with sarcasm and a patronising lecture. Strange. After ordering vegetarian dishes he told me it was a shame. (I’m veg for health and ethical reasons).
I confronted him and said we would pay for the drinks and leave as we felt unwelcome, he essentially gaslighted me and said it must be my problem and that I take things badly. As you can see from several 1 star reviews of people making the same comments as myself, it’s not just my problem. Part of eating out is feeling a nice friendly vibe, and this was far from it. There are positive reviews, maybe he was having a bad moment. Either way seems like a risk to go there.
I’m sure he would write something or other about me being entitled, pretentious or refusing to pay for drinks even though I offered to do so. I see he launches personal attacks on anyone who has left bad review, rather than taking the time to reflect on his own approach. Or get someone else as a waiter so he doesn’t have to deal with guests that he doesn’t appreciate. Chefs usually stay in the kitchen and front of house deals with customers. There’s a reason why basically all restaurants do this.
We left and went to Emo’s round the corner and had great food and nice, normal service (where the owner doesn’t insult you...
