Phở Bắc Hải is a well-known spot in Da Nang for those looking to enjoy traditional northern-style Vietnamese pho. Tucked away on Trần Quốc Toản street, the restaurant offers a nostalgic, homely feel and a focus on classic flavors.
The star of the show here is the broth — light, clear, and subtly sweet from hours of simmered beef bones. It’s not overly oily or heavily spiced, which keeps it true to the Northern Vietnamese tradition. The beef is fresh, tender, and sliced just thick enough to hold its texture without being chewy. The handmade pho noodles are slightly chewy and have a natural rice aroma that pairs perfectly with the broth.
While pho is the main attraction, the restaurant also offers a variety of other dishes like stir-fried pho and Yangzhou fried rice. These side options make it a versatile choice if you’re dining with someone who wants something different.
The restaurant has a cozy, family-style interior that adds to its charm. It’s not a fancy or modern place, but it feels authentic. However, some customers have pointed out inconsistencies in pricing — specifically that foreign guests might be charged slightly more than locals, which can be off-putting.
Phở Bắc Hải is a great place to experience Northern-style pho in Da Nang. The flavors are genuine, the portions generous, and the setting comfortable. That said, they could improve their service transparency to make the experience more welcoming...
Read moreCame here because of good reviews..... But sadly not up to expectations! Can't understand how they got so many good reviews. Actually the reviews are quite extreme....reviews state either the best or the worst. Seating outside. Probably should have tried the place opposite. They got our order wrong. Our dish of green vegetables didn't even get to our table. They forgot my beer. So we only ended up with 2 bowls of their beef pho. Not very good. Average. They even forgot to give us beansprouts, so had to chase them. Couldnt bother to wait any more for the beer or the vegatables. So asked for the bill. Paid VND120k for the 2 bowls of beef pho. Still felt hungry so crossed over to the place opposite and saw that their simialr beef pho was VND35k compared to VND60k here. This place is priced higher compared to opposite place. Maybe should focus on latest reviews and not those written by...
Read moreAbsolutely PERFECT Hanoi style Pho. Staff can speak a little English to help explain, which is nice, too. After a few disappointing bowls of Pho in Danang and Hoi An, it was such a relief to get this AWESOME bowl (thanks to a tip from Mr Phung at our hotel Val Soleil). The broth was already nicely seasoned, but they had all the necessary condiments ready to zest it up even more, including the best part for me -- freshly made chili paste. That made it nice and spicy. I eat a LOT of Pho when I go to Vietnam, but this is one of the best I've ever had, and definitely the best one I've had outside of Hanoi. Next time we visit, I plan to try their other...
