Phở Thố Chu Gia — Restaurant in Da Lat City

I stumbled into this pho place and, let me tell you, I was immediately hit with an aesthetic so good I thought I’d walked into a food Instagram influencer’s dream. The vibes were immaculate, like the kind of place you walk in and immediately feel cooler just for being there. But the real kicker? The food. They cooked it in a hot stone bowl, people. A literal hot stone bowl. If this pho was any fresher, I’d swear it was still mooing.

As I was busy trying to figure out if I’d accidentally entered a time machine to culinary heaven, I noticed this was a family run business. You can tell, because the service was so warm and welcoming it felt like I was being served by my auntie who genuinely cares whether I’ve eaten enough today. They didn’t just hand me a bowl of soup, they handed me an experience.

We stopped by this place after we met couple at a coffee shop. It is hole in the wall kind of restaurant. We never had this kind of pho before so it was a new experience! The staff was super friendly! They do speak a little English. They serve the broth in a super-hot stone bowl. The meat is served raw and the noodles are served separately. You will need to add the egg first and then the rest of the items. You can add the noodle into the stone bowl or eat it separately in the smaller bowl that was provided. Be careful when you add the egg to the broth as it can cause the broth to boil and overflow the stone bowl. The broth was really flavorful! This was an extremely unpleasant dining experience. I was here for dinner. The floor was grimy. The staff in the kitchen were incredibly boisterous - shouting and slamming plates - it felt like I was in a wet market. All floor staff were mostly glued to their phones.

Portion was unimpressive - barely any meat for 75k. The broth was good, but that’s hardly redeeming when the overall experience was so awful, and there are so many good places around where one can actually dine in a civilised environment. Couldn’t get out...
