Review:
We stayed in Vietnam for three weeks and experienced nothing but warm, honest, and accommodating hospitality from everyone—until we visited this restaurant near the lake. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.
UPDATE FOR THE OWNER : Thank you for your kind reply and commitment to improving your service. We have already returned home, but we trust that your efforts will help preserve the magic of Hanoi for future visitors. We appreciate your willingness to take our feedback seriously and hope to see the improvements on a future visit.
First, the orders were wrong. We specifically requested seafood and vegetarian spring rolls, but we were served chicken. We also asked for a mango smoothie made only with fresh mango and ice. Using a translator, we confirmed it was possible, and the waiter agreed. What we received was an industrial juice, unlike the hundreds of delicious fresh smoothies we enjoyed throughout Vietnam. When we asked about it, they claimed they would fix it but brought back a watered-down concentrate that was absolutely awful.
The hygiene of the staff, including the chef, was questionable, which was shocking. While the shrimp tempura and mango salad were decent, they were far from exceptional and it's very expensive.
This was the only time during our trip that we encountered such dishonesty and lack of care. I cannot recommend this restaurant, especially given the lies about the juice and the poor...
Read moreMy feeling for a best local restaurant Lake view 1983 restaurant today. The warmth of communal dining and the flavors of Vietnam quite like chicken hotpot and Bún Chả. These two iconic meals, though distinct in preparation and style, embody the heart and soul of Vietnamese cuisine: fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and a celebration of togetherness.
Chicken Hotpot Perfect for chilly evenings or family gatherings, chicken hotpot (or lẩu gà) is the ultimate comfort food. The dish features a simmering pot of rich, fragrant broth infused with lemongrass, ginger, and herbs like Thai basil and coriander. Succulent chicken pieces, fresh vegetables, tofu, and mushrooms are gently cooked in the broth, creating layers of flavor with every bite.
This dish isn’t just about the food—it’s about the experience. Sitting around the steaming pot, diners cook ingredients to their liking, sharing stories and laughter. And our extra Dishes so good I I love Buncha
Bún Chả, offering a perfect balance of smoky, tangy, and sweet flavors. This Hanoi specialty consists of grilled pork patties and caramelized pork belly served alongside a bed of vermicelli noodles....
Read moreMy partner and I visited this restaurant on our honeymoon, and we had high hopes given the great reviews online.
It was quite busy when we were inside and the service was very slow. We ordered 4 dishes between us and waited for at least 45 minutes before the first one arrived (although the rice was missing). The other dishes arrived at random intervals and one of our dishes was never brought to the table. However, when we asked for the bill they still included the missing dish in the cost and we had to query this.
The lady who appeared to be the manager was quite abrupt. When we ordered our food, half of the items on the menu weren’t even available. However, she did apologise at the end when she realised that one of our dishes had never arrived by the time we had ordered the bill.
The food was very average. The meat was tough and the noodles were cold.
The music was quite fun (guitar arrangements of English power ballads) and to be honest, that was the only aspect that kept me vaguely sane.
I won’t be...
