We stayed for 6 nights in several different rooms because we booked late and the hotel was full. It gave us the opportunity to have a variety of rooms. The good and the not so good; The lobby is stunning and the piano playing is a nice touch. I didn’t like the constant stream of Instagram/TikTok influencers taking up the space all the time. I saw that they can buy a package to use the hotel as background and it’s obviously a money making opportunity and free advertising for the hotel. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Really appreciated this. The rooms - all rooms we stayed in were of a high standard, nice furnishings and decor. Comfortable beds and pillows, soft towels and great showers. We were really disappointed with the tea/coffee making facilities. In a 5 star establishment I’d expect a coffee machine and eco conscious pods or espresso machine. I’d also expect proper milk. Nescafé and milk sachets don’t cut it frankly. And no biscuits or chocolates- could be an opportunity to work with local coffee and chocolate producers and highlight regional produce. The environmental issues were concerning to me, although a broader country wide issue, the hotel could provide water in a larger bottle for people to refill from instead of small plastic bottles. They have large reusable pump bottles of toiletries in the suites but use individual plastic tubes in the smaller rooms - why not just have the large reusable bottles in all the rooms? And even if I kept my towel on the rail it was always replaced, despite the environmental message about towels. As a successful business I hope the hotel improves its environmental standards and uses its power to help lobby the government towards sustainable policies. The pool area looked very tired and worn out. It wasn’t a pleasant area to be in. It needs renovation and maintenance. It could be lovely. We didn’t eat at the hotel but for the cost I think some light breakfast could be included. The gym was clean and functional. I wrote to the GM regarding a potential partnership with a rescue centre but have yet to hear back. Again, it would be a great collaboration opportunity. Fabulous location in heart of everything! Anyway I tried to make this useful feedback and hopefully it will be read. Thank you to the staff - your hard work is a...
Read moreStayed for two nights and three days. They are a five star hotel and have received awards in the past. I think its because of the beautiful decor, sheer size of the hotel, having a great location right next to the lake, having a pool and roof top bar.
However, was a little disappointed. Everything is overpriced… ex: beer is 90,000 room service when it is 30,000 elsewhere. The roof top bar is a bar with some seats outside. The view is nice though. They close a little early, 11pm.
Another disappointment was the spa service. The spa area was old, in need of some renovation. For the price of service( there is 5% service fee and 10% VAT for everything including room service). The beds, interior were not so great. No music, no water or tea after- and this is a 5 star hotel! The basic massage shops around hanoi all provide these services ( rhe best massage place I went to this trip was at La Belle Via Spa Massage) The massage ladies at the end would not let us leave without us giving them tip. They followed us all the way up to the room!
The most disappointing aspect was the breakfast pho… both days I tried it and felt very nauseous. I have been at two other hotels this trip ( May de ville and Marvelous - may de ville: terrible, marvelous: excellent, bang for your buck!!) and Marvelous hotel had THE BEST breakfast pho. The $100 extra I spent at Apricot was not worth it. Use the money to upgrade to a better room if you insist on staying here.
If I had to turn back time I would use the extra money for a high end room at Marvelous hotel and get various different massages everyday at La Belle Via Spa...
Read moreThe hotel is under renovation; not only itself but there is also a construction site just in front so that the view is very lamentable.
My partner being pregnant,we asked for another room (as we were placed in front of the construction site) and the answer was that we could be relocated at the upper floor or need to pay an extra (construction started at 9 A.M. and could be heard in the whole hotel... very annoying during our breakfast). Hence staff was not very helpful.
They provided only one key during the check-in and the key is mandatory for the air-con. Therefore each time we came to our room it was very warm and... smelly (humidity smell)
Staff were also fixing the lift (one to reach the amenities), the swimming pool and one camera in the lift was completely broken with pieces on the floor.
Hence, the overall impression after one hour was that the finish is so poor.
I felt that even some staff were a bit embarrassed about the current conditions (on the rooftop especially) In conclusion, surely one of the most disappointing experience and 5 stars hotel I've been.
Such a pity!
Few positive feedback nevertheless :
The overall look and impression are still good and cosy. You have the feeling of tasteful luxury decoration and furniture. Staff was nice and very helpful. The location is perfect, just in front of the lake and close to main attractions. The breakfast is very decent but surely not the best I got from a 5...
