Definitely sits on my top Omakase restaurant list in Hanoi!!
This place feels small , homey yet contemporary , I feel the resemblance similar to Maguro Studio from HCMC. I came here for Omakase lunch, opted for the highest value set (under 2mil) , and everything was so on point.
I was the only customer sitting at the counter bar on that day. All the fish was served made to order , the chef only cut it infront of the diners. I think I have an extra portion of uni sushi from chef Khoa cuz I blurted out that it was so yummy :) everything was so delicious - from the sashimis , to sushis , hot dishes , soups , and dessert! Everything was made in a contemporary style which made it so fun to dine. I also looked around and saw others ordered from the alacarte menu , the dishes looked very exciting as well.
A lot of omakase places have been popped up these days in Vietnam's large cities , but most are overpriced for purpose of a show. But Roru is a rare gem in a city. I will definitely revisit with my family...
Read moreI’ve been here a couple times and I gotta say this is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the city. Great music, nice staff and the food really lives up to the ambiance. A pretty modern take on Japanese cuisine. Dry aged fish are definitely the highlights. MUST GET THE OTORO, CHUTORO, FLOUNDER, MAGU RORU ROLL AND THE MAGURO HOLIC SUSHI. Chawanmushi is also gas. Those are my favorite items on the menu. Umami bomb exploding right in your mouth. Shrimps, scallops and uni are kind of a hit or miss. Wagyu are also kinda mid. I’ve tried both their omakase and a la carte and tbh, I still prefer the a la carte experience. Omakase is just not there yet.
Food is also is a tad bit inconsistent throughout visits in terms of fish and rice hardness. They’ve never gotten bad bad tho, it’s always been in the 3-4ish star range. Service has gotten worse ever since they opened. Expect very slow and messy service when the place is busy. Food wise it has been steady. Overall still a solid modern...
Read moreNothing too special. Had the “Balance” omakase for 1.5M/pax.
Service
The service was so-so. They tried to attend to our needs and served tea constantly, but the food was slow.
To apologise for the speed, they gave us a dish which was not really my taste. I’m also slightly uncomfortable being watched all the time.
Food
The wagyu was good, dry-age sashimi was not that special. Some of the dishes was not tasty for me, but the ingredients seemed good.
Price
1.5M/pax for omakase is not expensive, but I didn’t like being charged an extra 150K without a heads-up.
Atmosphere
We had a “private table for 2” but we were sitting next to the bar where other guests spoke loudly. Gave...
