Bánh Cuốn Bà Hoành is a beloved culinary landmark in Hanoi, often praised as one of the best places to enjoy authentic bánh cuốn. Tucked away on Tô Hiến Thành Street, the eatery has been serving locals and visitors for decades, building its reputation on consistency, tradition, and unmistakable flavor.
The star of the show is, of course, the bánh cuốn. Each delicate rice sheet is steamed to perfection—thin, silky, and slightly elastic—before being gently rolled with a filling of minced pork and wood ear mushrooms. What sets Bà Hoành apart is the balance: the rice sheets are never too thick, the filling flavorful but not overwhelming, and the dipping sauce perfectly seasoned with just the right sweetness, saltiness, and a hint of chili. Served with chả quế (Vietnamese cinnamon pork sausage) and fresh herbs, the dish feels light yet satisfying, making it easy to order a second plate.
The atmosphere is simple, no-frills, and always bustling. Small plastic stools, quick service, and a crowd of loyal regulars add to its charm. While you might not linger long, the experience captures the essence of Hanoi street dining—authentic, fast, and delicious.

Read moreBánh Cuốn Bà Hoành is a small, no-frills restaurant that has been serving up delicious bánh cuốn Thanh Trì for almost a decade. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike.
Bánh cuốn Thanh Trì is not your typical bánh cuốn filled with a mixture of minced pork, wood ear mushrooms, and fried shallots. It's just made with a special type of rice that is ground into a fine batter and then steamed into thin, delicate sheets. And it is served with a dipping sauce made from fish sauce, sugar, lime juice, and grilled pork rolls, sticky pork and skin paste. The dipping sauce was the perfect complement to the bánh cuốn, adding a nice touch of acidity.
Be aware that the portions are huge! My husband and I ordered a Bánh Cuốn and a Bún Chả, but we couldn't finish it all. I didn't try the Bún Chả myself, but my husband said that it was average.
The staff are very hospitable and promptly take care of customers' needs. The prices are reasonable.
