Came here for a Saturday brunch date with my boyfriend. Free bike parking provided in a covered space. I loved the design, aesthetic, and decor of this place - super well done. We were greeted at the door and provided with exceptional service our entire visit.
I’m from the U.S. and was super excited to see their brunch menu - lots of American brunch classics. I ordered the chicken and croffles and my boyfriend ordered the chicken sando. Portion sizes of both were massive to be prepared to leave with a potential food coma!
The chicken sando was delicious. I think the house made Cole slaw really made the situation that much better between texture and some fresh flavor.
While the portions were huge, I was a bit disappointed with my chicken and croffles in terms of flavor. I had ordered the chicken spicy (offered on the menu) and it came out a bit flavorless. It definitely wasn’t spicy (at all) but it also just tasted like plain chicken. The croffles were delicious in flavor but were really hard, I was struggling to cut through it with my knife.
The chef came out and seeing that I had left half of it uneaten and didn’t want to take it to go, asked me about it. I shared my critical feedback with him and he took it very seriously. He took my food away and after a few minutes, came back out and told me he understood where I was coming from. He agreed the chicken wasn’t spicy and proposed a couple ways he could cook it differently moving forward.
I think this interaction says a lot about a chef and it tells me that he genuinely cares about customer satisfaction and cares about improving his recipes. I understand every dish is not one size fits all but it means a lot that he heard my feedback, sampled the dish, and came back out to say I understand. He didn’t have to come back out at all and he definitely could’ve dismissed my feedback and moved on.
I will definitely be back here to try some more dishes for brunch because I know this is a place that genuinely cares about customer satisfaction and providing...
Read moreThis city has needed a new brunch spot for a while now. Luckily Tyler Kooy and his wife K Pop are up to the challenge.
The space is tucked at the end of an alley near the War Remnants museum in the borderland of District 1 and 3. Walk down and it’s the last spot on the right.
The space opens with an 8 top counter bar with a few high tables that opens on the left to lower table seating under a trendy skylight. There’s the possibility for privacy and sociableness in the same space.
The cocktail menu is extensive and Tyler is trying to cram the bar with hard to find treasures and new product runs on a monthly basis. Drinks are reasonable and there’s a special running on Sapporo at the moment, so help keep that man in shape changing the kegs.
I had the chicken croissant waffles (croffles?). The chicken came out crunchy and steaming with tender flavorful dark meat. The waffles were served with elderflower honey and were perfectly textured with fluffy pillowy buttery goodness. A must try.
I unveganized the breakfast burrito with “Jimmy Dean” sausage and bacon. It came with a smokey tomatillo salsa that I’m told you can beg for extra on the side. The burrito was premo and absolutely delicious with fluffy eggs and cheese. Definitely giving some local breakfast burritos something to challenge them.
With all of that and cold brew my tab was around 500k vnd. It was a nice quiet morning before the rush started so I had time to pester the owner for all the secret sauce.
Drag your sleepy lazy self out of bed for this speakeasy brunch in the center of Saigon before the chef gets tired of prepping...
Read moreMet a friend for saturday late ladies lunch. Bellini was good and I had 2 of them, completely filled to the top ! Forgot the official name of the dish (which was a cross between the mexican Heuvos Rancheros and vietnames Bo Ne) is definately something I am coming back for !. Steak was beautifully cooked (I hate overdone steak), pate and cream cheese adds to the richness. Sharing is caring, but I next time I am having one of these to myself only ! . The mac and cheese we ordered a small size which was still enough for 2 to share. Surprising twist- it had pieces of hash browns in it, which added some crunchy texture to the dish.
Onto the final dish of French toast. To be fair, my own personal error I should have ordered this later (after eating all of the main dishes). Service was great and so fast, hence cream was melting before I finished mains. The french toast was going to be my sweet dessert treat. Two pieces of large soft bouncy in the middle french toast came out. Extremely thick ( in a good way ie they not using thin pre sliced loaf of bread like other places ). Generous portion size- lashings amount of thick cream (skip the diet!). French Toast dish definately for 2 people to share. ie for only me one slice would be enough.
Friendly staff and speedy service (including bar staff). The price is fair for the quality of food and generous portion sizes -yes I would...
