A great Portuguese food experience for me tonight. The right choice at Portuguese restaurant ( CASINHA RESTAURANT ) at 154 Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, Ward 6, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, VietNam
I ate SOLO COMBO includes : 3 Portuguese Dishes ( so so delicious ) Caldo Verde ( Portuguese soup with kale and chorizon ) Polvo a Lagareiro ( Roasted octopus with olive oil ) Pasteis de Bacalhau ( Traditional Portuguese codfish fritters )
And I ordered more famous traditional Portuguese Dishes : Bifana ( Bread with Portuguese marinated pork ) Porco Alentejana ( Pork with clams in savory sauce ) Pasteis de Nata.Must try😊 ( Portuguese Egg Tarts ) Bacalhau à Brás ( Salted cold scrambled with eggs, potatoes) I paired Bica coffee and Egg Tarts. Paired a glass of Mateus - Portuguese Rose Wine with some Portuguese foods. Perfect for all from dishes to drinks 😊😊😊❤❤❤

Casinha is a true hidden gem in Ho Chi Minh City. The moment you walk in, you’re transported straight to Portugal — from the charming decor to the warm atmosphere, and most of all, the incredible food and coffee!
We discovered this place during our trip and loved it so much we went back three times — for brunch, breakfast, and even take-away. Each time, the quality was consistently top-notch, and the service was quick and friendly.
We have dietary restrictions, and the staff was more than happy to accommodate. They were knowledgeable and attentive, making us feel very comfortable and cared for.
If you’re kosher, it’s worth noting that their drinks are made with kosher ingredients — perfect for a refreshing and worry-free stop.
The coffee with coconut completely stole our hearts, and the Pastel de Nata with a Bica was simply perfection — as authentic as it gets.
The menu is 100% Portuguese — no shortcuts, just rich, flavorful, honest food. I would honestly fly back to Ho Chi Minh just to eat here again — it’s that good.
Tip: Come hungry, order bit by bit, and savour each dish and drink slowly. If it’s your only visit, give yourself at least 1.5 hours to truly enjoy the full experience.

Read moreI recently visited Casinha after hearing recommendations to try some classic Portuguese dishes. The restaurant itself is undeniably charming—warm, cozy, and beautifully decorated. It has a lovely ambiance that makes you feel right at home. The service was kind and attentive, which added to the overall welcoming vibe.
That said, the food didn’t quite meet my expectations. I tried two highly recommended dishes: Pastéis de Bacalhau and Bacalhau à Brás. Both felt underwhelming in flavor—bland, even. I found myself reaching for mustard and Tabasco just to liven them up, which made me wonder if I was either eating them wrong or if Portuguese cuisine just might not be for me.
It’s always disappointing when a much-anticipated meal doesn’t leave a strong impression, especially when you’re trying something new and culturally distinct. Still, I haven’t written it off completely. I may give Casinha another shot through Grab, maybe exploring a few more dishes for a second opinion.
Overall, Casinha is a lovely spot to dine and relax, but for me, the food experience didn’t quite hit the mark—at...
