It's a scammy restaurant. I ordered a century egg (15k) and a drink (15k). When time came to pay, I handed 30k, but the man asked me 35k. He argued that the snack he brought to my table (I guess it was fried bread) was 5k. I guess that if I had used the wet tissue he put on my table, that would also have been charged (3k). I refused to pay, saying that I didn't order it.
The manners of the old lady working there (she was wearing a black blouse that day) are awful as well. When entering, I greeted her, then stood to read the menu on the wall. She kept saying something in Vietnamese (assuming I understand her language?) and pointed to the huge container of congee. I made eye contact and nodded, then continued reading the menu. Here, you can get delicious squid porridge with optional add-ons such as regular eggs, thousand years egg, or even additional toppings that can add to the experience. The broth is flavorful, and each portion (even the standard one) will keep you full. They also have a variety of drinks to choose from, I had their kumquat tea and it was delicious. The price was on the cheaper end.
Overall, a satisfying and delicious experience. I would highly recommend this place over...
Read moreDelicious squid porridge! Anthony Bourdain visited this mom and pop shop. It's conveniently located right around the corner from our hotel. The squid flavor is from dried squid that is cooked with the porridge, the squid gives it a sweet flavor and is soften up by the cooking process. To the low star reviewer, it is not a scam. Nothing comes free at these restaurants do if there are chinese donuts on the table and you devour it, expect to pay, same with all the wet naps unless explicitly...
