12/10/22: Now open at 234 Bui Vien, P. Pham Ngu Lao, Quan 1. New digs are pleasing on the eyes, spacious, and comfortable. Food is better than ever, especially the Palak Paneer. Garlic naan unrivaled. You can roll out of Halen’s for a mere 110000VND via the veggie combo (pictured on the right). Great curries, wonderful owners. They’ve stepped it way up.
My original review: Absolutely superb Indian food of the highest order. I ordered the kadai paneer and dal tarka curries and both were super tasty. Garlic naan is superior to anywhere else Ive had in HCMC. A huge order of basmati for the price. Last, they discounted the order on Grab and gave me a refreshing lime drink for free. Hopefully they stay consistent. A big, big 5 star rating here.
Update 9/30/20: ordered the gargantuan veggie thali which was equally as delicious. You get four curries, pappadum, a naan, vegetables, rice, a dessert, and a lime drink for 102000VND on Grab Delivery after discount. Oh I'm going to support this fine establishment as much...
Read moreToday we ordered from Grab, The order was butter chicken dal tadka and Shahi paneer from Halen's Indian curry as it had good reviews and its ratings were high, it was a total waste of money, I don't know how people eat this kind of food and rate them so good, the chicken smelled like rotten socks or whatever but something fishy was in it, not edible at all. Shahi paneer was pathetic it was too sweet and had a smell too, the dal had a tadka without any taste and was looking as if it had a colour on it, who puts colour in a dal. The food was wasted as nobody ate it. Wasted my money. Never order from this restaurant. Also i tried Baba’s kitchen, the order was of butter chicken, it was a bit sweet but was edible. Dont try these restaurant, As last night i ordered from Dahi Handi Indian Restaurant, the food was amazing Chicken was good dal was just perfect and dal makhni was also okay. Its just that i want to explore these high rated restaurant which was really huge mistake, as it was a total waste of...
Read moreAfter a long day of walking in the heat, I just didn’t have the energy to go out for dinner. I ordered the Aloo Chana masala and the Jeera rice via Grab. My meal came quite quickly, despite it being the Tet holiday, and the portions were gigantic. Everything was packaged very well for transport. I also got a veggie “salad” and two small containers of something…since I have food allergies and didn’t know what was in the containers, I didn’t eat them. I’m guessing the white one was kheer, but am not sure.
I’ll be saving half of my meal to eat cold tomorrow for lunch. I am in Ho Chi Minh City for another few days, and I am likely to order again, the food...
