I went to My Banh Mi back in July. A bit late on the review. went for the Roasted pork shoulder Banh Mi. 105k VND (No VAT/Service fee included), was shocked by that price. The bread was good as well as the ingredients in it. Good looking Banh Mi as well. It was delicious, it didn't give me the "wow" factor though or give me the feeling that I should visit again. It was not the best Banh Mi I had, but it was still good.
I'm a huge Banh Mi lover. Tried a lot of Banh Mi restaurants, spots and vendors in this city. Also other cities such as Nha Trang and Da Nang. I did a Banh mi tours in Hoi An and even Paris. So I know my fair share of Banh Mi. I can say the price at My Banh Mi is somewhat expensive (like 2-4 times more expensive than any other that I've tried, whether it is a restaurant or vendor). Even if it is a restaurant, it is still a Banh Mi, not a deli Sandwich. Even if they use superb ingredients, can't say it justifies the high price.
The portions are small, takes a few bites and it's all gone and still feel hungry afterwards. I'm used to a lot of fillings, which with this Banh Mi it lacks. There is a Sandwich cafe (American Style, run by an expat) in this city which is slightly more expensive than the Banh Mi of My Banh Mi, but with the Sandwich Cafe with the same service, cleaniless and aircon, you get way more for your money. For their huge Sandwiches and Banh Mi with loads of fillings they include Chips and salads, which compared to this restaurant it's a huge letdown for the price I pay for the small Banh Mi without anything else. If you are a big eater and want to try out the streetfood Banh Mi, I can't recommend you this Banh Mi restaurant due to it being overpriced and for the small portion.
EDIT: Fair enough, people have different palates. But how you defend against my review like this.. The owner needs to learn how to respond to reviews and criticism however and don't try to battle every review like this. Acceptance is what he...
Read moreMy review rate is purely for the quality-price ratio. I had bun thit nuong and the taste is very average. I’m a local and while I understand the place caters to tourists as it’s located next to the post office, the price is outrageous. And I’m not comparing it to street food stalls but to good quality restaurants in the city. The place is also small and with very normal seating and decoration. I could pay the same price in a 5 stars hotel in HCM and get 5 times better experience and quality. Also regarding service charge and VAT, the usual would be to display the full price im the menu, as not many people will be reading other texts if they come in hungry and tired. Just my opinion after reading the owner’s answer to some of the similar feedback from other customers. I paid 192.000 for this plate, did not order any drinks as drinks would cost 3,4 times the normal price: 80k for a coconut.
Adding after seeing the owner’s reply: I’m just a casual customer to the place happening to be around the area and hungry at that time, I don’t own any business or do anything related to F&B as the owner claims in his comment full of hatred, invention about others (in this case a real customer who even talked to the staff and expressed surprise about the price, ask your staff that day sir/madam) and excuses to not taking into consideration customer’s feedback and be open minded toward...
Read moreWhere to start? Well, I’m sitting here in the middle of my lunch and was so compelled to write a review that I had to pause and do so. This is my second visit this week (trust me, if I didn’t come to Vietnam for dental work and I could have chewed down more Bahn mi’s I would’ve been here every day). Not only was this the best Bahn mi I’ve ever had; it might be one of my favourite meals. As a chef, it’s so refreshing to come somewhere with incredible hygiene standards, both vegan and delicious meat options available. I tried the tofu and slow cooked beef in coconut and they were so fantastic. The staff are very lovely and attentive and the owner is a true joy, coming by to everyone’s table to make conversation and introduce himself and check his guests are happy. I’m really sad that I have to leave tomorrow and can’t come back again as I know I’ll dream of this place for years to come. Please do yourself a favour and do not skip on this restaurant. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality of their ingredients and the ambience is just wonderful. 11/10. Thank you very much for making this food with...
