Unacceptable Service and Poor Communication at Maison Mận-Đỏ

I recently made a reservation for two at Nhà Hàng Maison Mận-Đỏ for 8 PM to celebrate my 53rd birthday, only to be met with an appalling display of incompetence and disregard for customer service. Despite receiving a confirmation email at 7:08 PM, we arrived at the restaurant only to be informed they were fully booked.

Adding insult to injury, I received another email while heading back to District 2, reiterating that they were fully booked. This belated notification was too little, too late—it did nothing to mitigate the waste of our time, effort, and 200,000 VND in transportation costs.

The entire ordeal nearly ruined what should have been a joyful occasion. Had the restaurant notified us earlier, we could have adjusted our plans accordingly. This kind of mismanagement and lack of basic courtesy is inexcusable and reflects poorly on a business claiming to offer high-end dining experiences.

Every time I come here I feel happy to eat their food. It is 100% authentic Vietnamese cuisine and the way they prepare and present show how much love and care for the food. If the Italian has grandma's meal, the French has their share of famous chefs and dishes then Saigoneer has this restaurant to showcase Vietnamese cuisine. It feels like home when your mother or grandmother cooks her special dishes, every dish is special here at the restaurant. The decoration reminds me of the old days of Saigon in the late 18th and early 19th century. They have nice music before the war ended to set the mood as well. Staff are friendly and you can trust them to recommend your dishes and drinks. Starters and main courses are nothing less than great however dessert wasn't on the same level of goodness. Price is a bit pricy compare to other restaurants serving that kind of food, expect to pay 10-25€ per person depending on how much you can eat. Dinner for 2 probably about 30-40€ including 2 starters, 2 main dishes, soup, vegetables, deserts and drinks. It is a bit far from the center but totally worth the trip...

I have booked the table earlier for my partner's birthday and I was really disappointed because the restaurant gives us the table beside, the group of ppl "the big table", so our whole dinner is really noisy. The staff can't even attend us because they are busy with the big group of ppl. For the birthday the staff gave my partner a tiny cup cake, I appreciate it but they just put on the table and didn't even sing a birthday song 🙁🥲. Earlier on the booking I have mentioned to serve the cake with the dessert but the staff didn't even have a clue, so I have to inform them again by showing the text of the booking. I think the person who handled the booking didn't give them a note. It's really terrible because every year we visit other countries just to celebrate our birthdays and this year 2024 was "Vietnam" but we were really disappointed and sadly this is going to be in our memory.
