I've been a loyal customer of Poc Poc since their Pham Ngọc Thanh days, but my recent visit to PocPoc Garden will regrettably be my last. Despite using their Facebook booking function to reserve a table and receiving confirmation, upon arrival, my reservation was nowhere to be found. Instead, they attempted to upsell me a package before we were even seated, which was incredibly off-putting. (-1 point)
Had my entire group been present at the time, I would have left immediately for another venue. After expressing my dissatisfaction with their sales tactics, we were relegated to arguably the worst seats in the bar, far from the stage. Although I was initially told another table would be arranged, this promise was never fulfilled. (-1 point)
During our initial discussions on Facebook, I noted that one of our group members is vegetarian, yet they still tried to sell us a lobster package. It’s baffling—they ignored my request for something as simple as khoai tay chien (french fries) and pushed lobster instead. And it’s not due to a language barrier; I am fluent in Vietnamese. This experience showed a clear disregard for customer preferences and poor communication within the staff. We ended up with the worst seats, constant upselling, and a lack of the special qualities that once made this venue stand out. Even if there were performances, we were too far to enjoy them. (-1 point)
Moreover, the pricing was exorbitant: 4 million VND for 20 beers, a Shisha, and french fries, with tax and service charge on top. The fruit platter was priced at a staggering 475,000 VND, about $18 USD, which is vastly overpriced compared to local market rates. (-1 point)
It’s noteworthy that the security staff remains unchanged over the last decade, but sadly, the other staff members have only deteriorated in service quality. Despite the memories of the past ten years, I won’t be returning. The nightlife scene in Ho Chi Minh seems to be plagued by greed, pushing me to seek more genuine and cost-effective places like traditional quan nhau. Thank you, PocPoc, for the memories, but it's time to move on.

Read moreStopped by here real quick on a Friday night around 7:30pm because we happened to be walking by and it looked cool. It was mostly empty but already great music was playing with a dj. Most of the tables were empty but we weren’t allowed to sit there unless we paid a deposit so we were sat at the bar (which would have been fine) but there was only 1 chair for 2 of us and no one offered to bring over another even though most of the place was empty.
We already felt off and unwelcome so decided to just order 1 beer for my boyfriend and nothing for me and leave. It was like the staff has never had someone come in for a single drink before because they were so intrusive and rude about the fact that we were ordering 1 beer for 2 people. They pushed so hard for us to order more, it began to get uncomfortable. As we were leaving the manager (I think?) stopped us outside and asked why we were already leaving when we just got there.
It’s constant badgering from the staff to get you in, keep you in, and make you spend money. Mind you, there was no event happening at the time we were there. We should be able to walk in, have a single drink, and leave without being harassed by everyone in the process.
