🍜Tsukemen 209,080₫ (8%VAT included, wet tissues & discounted kara-age chicken also got counted for VAT). Delicious thick soup, tender meat with sliced leeks, white sesame, whole ramen egg were lovely to enjoy. Noodles size and temperature were not as thick and cold as classic Ikebukuro tsukemen, but not a big problem.

🙂Free cold drinking water. Free motorbike parking at entrance. Location is inside the backyard of a villa redesigned to be a complex of 4 small shops. Ramen shop seems to be the only air-conditioned shop. ☹️Although dry tissue is given for free along with single use chopsticks, wet tissue is charged 4000₫ each. A common Vietnamese thing, but very strange for a Japanese food business. I forgot to check if wet tissue charge is mentioned on the menu.

💭 You can tell from the shop interior design, menu design, branding that this is not an authentic Japanese shop. The price is not cheaper than a Japanese owned shop in Le Thanh Ton. During 1 hour, no Japanese customers came here, the place was packed with local Vietnamese young couples coming in and out looking happy.

🏠 Staff are well trained to promote the menu and greet you loudly with irasshaimase & arigato-gozaimasu. They were not so friendly but were helpful and did their jobs without...

New ramen bistro in D2, I was hoping for the flavour but it turned out that it was not even close to what I have expected. Tonkotsu was not rich at all😦 noddle was just ….so so overall. No soy sauce or garlic available on the table. If you needed them, you need to ask the staff. Ah, and no cold water as well, you need to buy a bottle in case you want water to clear your palate which I haven’t experienced in any Japanese or Korean bistro in town. New building, nice decorations but very poor in managing tables. I was placed in the table in front of the gate while other tables inside were available (no reservation sign?), whenever new guests came in, I felt like the almost hit me with the door open force. 🥲 The door staff was the one ordered food as well, so she kept distracting from open the door while I try to finished my order. When the food came out, no other staff was there to help (even I saw one noticed) to bring the food down. Service was horrible. 🥲

Lastly, the check-in free desserts was not available due to it running-date (while it was there on the table without any date?)

Not recommended and not...

I recently visited Shinso Ramen in Thao Dien, District 2, without high expectations—mainly because there are already so many Japanese ramen spots across Ho Chi Minh City. But this one really surprised me in the best way possible.

From the moment I stepped in, I was impressed by the attention to detail. The interior design has Japanese aesthetic.

As for the food—which is the real star—everything was excellent.

Noodles: The ramen noodles were incredibly authentic, with a texture and flavor that reminded me a lot of Ichiran Ramen, which happens to be my personal favorite style. Firm, chewy, and absolutely delicious.

Broth: I ordered the spicy miso ramen, and the broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Just the right level of spice and umami, exactly what I was hoping for.

The price is quite reasonable considering the quality—around VND 160,000 to 200,000 per bowl.

If you're craving real Japanese ramen in Ho Chi Minh, I highly recommend giving Shinso Ramen a try. It's definitely...
