It’s a bit disappointing dining experience here. I had seen Luke’s show and been looking forward to it. It’s very straightforward getting reservation for table of 6 on the day of. The host reminded us of the dress code which is ok. We didn’t mind that.
We ordered a few appetizers to share as well as main course for each of us.
This is when problem started.
The wait staff took away our plates before the last appetizers arrived so we had nothing to eat that with. I saw the commotion with a few staffs carrying over that appetizer and noticed the problem. She ended up taking it back and didn’t serve us. The appetizers that came, they were just OK. Really nothing incredible or something you can’t get from nearby local place. I was truly disappointed with the Prawn and Pork Fresh Rolls. it’s quite dry. The peanut sauce has such a thick texture molasses like to a point you could get the sauce in the roll. The sauce tasted literally nothing. It’s just a brown thick sauce. Quite let down
After the appetizers fiasco, we were hoping for a better main course. Well, that didn’t happen either. 2 of the main course came first. The next 2 came about 5-10 mins after. The 5th one took another 10 mins so we started eating while some guests still had no food. After a bit, a wait staff told us the last main course would take another 10 mins!!!! He said because the kitchen was very busy. Something not adding up. Everything was just off. Finally the last main course came and the staff said that main course is on the house along with lotus tea while we were waiting. Overall, the food was just ok. Again, nothing special. We all enjoyed the dining room design and the ambience. But the food and service were just quite disappointing. Based on our experience, I can’t imagine recommending this to anyone given there are just so many other amazing...
Read moreUnfortunately we didn’t have a great experience at Vietnam House which we came across highly rated on a travel blog.
We came to the restaurant at 21:00, knowing google maps says it closes at 21:30, so wouldn’t be surprised if we got turned away.
When we arrived, there were a few empty tables but the host asked if we had a reservation which we didn’t. I pointed at one of the empty tables and asked if it was free, to which she said someone had booked it so it was not. I was quite surprised by this as I knew they were due to shut soon. After she turned us away because there were no tables free my partner asked how long it’d be if we waited for one. She said 5 mins. So we waited as that wasn’t long. The host went in and spoke to her manager then 5 mins later she said we can go to that table that I had originally pointed out was empty. She then said last order is in 10 mins so we had to order straight away. I then asked where the guests she’s waiting for were going to sit, and she said they’ll put them on another table (no one came in for that table after we arrived, of course.)
What annoyed me was that did anyone even make a reservation 30 mins before closing and did they turn us away initially because they were due to close? There were other empty tables so didn’t make sense they wouldn’t just sit us in the first place. If so, why couldn’t they have just said that?
After all that, the food was bang average. The fried netted lobster spring roll was so underwhelming. There was hardly any lobster in it and it massively lacked flavour.
This was one of the worst meals we’ve had in the 2 weeks we’ve been in Vietnam. Service was good once they sat us down.
But after all that, we were extremely disappointed with it being our last night in Vietnam. We went to another restaurant after this to finish the...
