Alma presents itself as a quality steakhouse. So the steaks were high (pun intended). I ordered a medium rare picanha, which usually has a tasty fat cap.
There was no fat on the picanha (I'm honestly wondering if they picked the right steak) and 80% was overcooked and dry, in my humble opinion. That's impressive, given the thickness of the steak. I guess it overcooked while resting.
I left a large part of the steak, the waitress noticed it was overcooked because the inside was gray. She asked if that's the reason I didn't finish. I politely said that in my opinion it's indeed mostly dry and well-done instead of medium rare. She said she'd tell the chef. After that, I didn't hear anything about it anymore. Chef probably didn't agree.
Why didn't I report it earlier? Nobody comes to check if the food is alright, staff was always out of sight, the meat quality was bad (no fat and tough) so a new steak wouldn't be much better and even more waste of food.
For dessert, half of the menu was unavailable. Whatever was available was alright.
Staff was friendly and the view is amazing. So, if your standards for steak are low and you want an okay-Asian steak with nice view, I'd say it's a fine place. But please lower your expectations and ignore the dry aging equipments.
I wouldn't trust them with a more expensive steak.
Additionally, serve the steak with some fleur de sel (proper salt) if you want to be a fancy...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant on Christmas Eve, and it was an unforgettable experience. The view alone was breathtaking—truly the perfect setting to celebrate a special occasion.
I opted for the set menu, and every dish felt thoughtfully crafted. We started with the burrata, which was rich, creamy, and absolutely ngon—a delightful start to the meal. The highlight, however, was the Catalana dessert. It was out of this world, a perfect balance of sweetness and texture that left a lasting impression.
The combination of the stunning view, impeccable dishes, and festive ambiance made it a night to remember. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an exceptional...
Read moreThe BBQ ribs were just bad—dry, chewy, and bland. They tasted like they were pulled out of a soup, and they forgot to grill them. The meat quality was also poor for ribs; you’d use something like this to make a good soup, not good BBQ ribs. Considering the price (three times more expensive than any other place in Hue), this is unacceptable.
The view was nice, and the staff was pleasant, but they clearly have no clue how to make BBQ ribs. Additionally, given that they offer around ten different main course options (which I appreciate—a dense menu), all of your dishes should be crafted to perfection. I've had better ribs that were literally pulled...
