We drove 2.5 hours from Da Nang to Hue for a day trip. We starved ourselves and avoided breakfast, in anticipation of eating Bun Bo Hue at its place of origin. We're huge fans of Bun Bo Hue and we had very high expectations. Our driver recommended this place and it was the first stop on our Hue tour. What a fantastic find this was. We ordered the 'Tham Cam' or fully loaded, which came with all the essential cuts of meat that make up a bowl of the famous noodle soup. It was 50k VND, it was generous in both vermicelli noodles and meats. A common misconception about Bun Bo Hue is that it should be spicy from the get go. It is not. The base of the soup should be sweet, heavily scented with lemongrass and have a generous hint of fermented prawn paste, which this soup has copious amounts of. It was a very hearty and deeply flavourful soup. The spiciness comes from adding the home made chilli paste and pickled chilli vinegar. You add the chilli paste slowly until the spice level is right. It's a really nice chilli paste, not the best I've had, but really good and compliments the dish. It was fantastic, 4 bowls of the special bun bo hue devoured. A special mention to the nem and cha they had, specially made in banana leaves. It was so good we ate and then took away more. You can't get this stuff and at these small prices. We were eating it until evening. Made a great snack. This is a great place if you want really good, hearty Bun Bo Hue. Highly recommended.

We’ve only eaten it in Đà Nẵng , but so far, this is the best bún bò Huế we’ve had in Vietnam in the 4 months we’ve been here. Broth was clean and very flavorful. Had a good amount of spice to it. Our 7-year-old, who is becoming a foodie, approves of it as well. Finished his bowl and proceeded to help mommy with the rest of her bowl. The only small complaint that one of us has is that they do not use the thicker cylindrical noodles. Doesn’t seem like that many places do, and that’s the bún bò Huế that we’ve grown accustomed to in the US. Prices were good. Each of our bowls ranged from 30K to 40k dong/VND. Atmosphere isn’t anything special, typical of a good local mom and pop place. Owner was very nice, however, and came over and made some small talk with us. We joked about taking another trip back to Huế just to eat. If we do that, we’ll likely be by here again. @notquiteviet

This place looks like one of those restaurants that locals eat at. It has stools and tables scattered around the place. Like any other typical stalls, every table has French baguettes, chilli, lime, and sauces. We sat down and the server brought over an English menu with their most expensive 4 items, but the local menu on the table had about 10-12 items. Since we knew what we wanted, we ordered the bun bo from the local menu for 25k. The bowl of noodle was a good size, the soup was flavourful, and the beef was tender. We also ordered a bottle of iced lemon tea for 15k. The place was quite busy with locals ordering take out as well. Overall not a bad experience! Our tummies were satisfied.

Was craving Bun Bo Hue, so I ordered the special! However this place missed the mark for me. Pros - Convenient location - Street food style - Specialized food, only Bun Bo Hue - The balls were tasty Cons - Food wasn't hot was on the warm side - Meat cuts were tough - Pricier than average I was a bit disappointed with the execution of the food. Soup should always be piping hot and along with the flavour which was on the bland side. I ended up throwing wads of chilli to enhance the flavour. The worst part was the cut of pork I received was harder than a leather boot, I thought I was going to lose my teeth biting into that guy. Overall I thought it was ok at best!

I was lucky because I found here. I bought Bun Bo Hue bo gio(35k) I was pretty surprised because they put pretty many meats in the soup. Wow! It was good to eat many meats. I was so satisfied with the amount. So I ordered it again. I think it's not necessary to order the big size(around 60k) because one bowl(35k) is also pretty big size. You can taste it at first, after then if you order it again or others. The price is from 30k to 60k. I recommend you to visit here once even though you're foreigner(I'm Korean but it was good taste)

The Bun Bo Hue was delicious, I need to try have this again and try other places but definitely best one I’ve tried out of the three so far. Vibe is not really there, it’s a local spot it seems and they don’t try to be any different. I wasn’t seated and no one really batted an eye at me until I walked up to the lady at the pot and asked for a bowl. Otherwise she was nice in that interaction. The sugar cane lady was nicer at the front lol, come here for a good bowl of bbh and don’t expect too much because you’re at a locals spot!!
