I first came here because it was the most-reviewed restaurant within walking distance from my hotel, with pretty good ratings. Honestly, I underestimated it at first since it’s tucked away in a small alley and the place itself is quite small. But I ended up coming back several times—because the food is that good! They have the best English-speaking staff I’ve met in Hue. Even the staff at my hotel didn’t speak as well as they did here. The food is delicious. I tried several dishes like fried noodles and fried rice, but the absolute winner is their banana dessert with coconut cream and crushed peanuts. Not too sweet, but incredibly tasty—you must try it! The service is quick, even when the restaurant is busy. They accept debit cards, credit cards, and cash. I even got a discount for paying with Visa. I noticed a lot of Western visitors dining here—probably because the flavors are very approachable for international palates. Price-wise, it’s a bit higher than the local eateries, but the portions are generous and the toppings are not stingy. Totally worth it. I forgot to ask her name, but there was a sweet, chubby lady with glasses who kindly explained to me where I could buy ao dai in Hue. Such a lovely person!
Overall, this is definitely a restaurant I would return to if I visit Hue again. Highly...
Read moreWe came across this cozy spot during our stay in Hue. We had speedy service upon arrival and the environment is very laid back even at 7 PM during dinner time. We ordered Orange Lemongrass Tea and a half liter huda beer for our beverages. For starters we sampled the bahn nam (meat-filled rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves served with vinegar sauce) and the vegetable fried spring rolls. Both were fantastic and the bahn nam was very warm and delicious, I'd highly recommend, especially if first time in Vietnam. For main dishes, we ordered caramel chicken in a claypot and bun bo hue (Hue Beef Noodle Stew), then the steamed banana cake for dessert. The dishes were both 10/10 and the dessert proved an interesting, yet acquired taste. A dried gelatin wrapped banana cake served in bowl of coconut cream. Price for everything was 375K VND. Our waitress Lynn was amazing and even taught us a few vietnamese words, even giving us a card with popular phrases complementary to the meal. Overall, we had an incredible experience and will likely be back once or twice more before...
Read moreWas lured to Nina’s due to the great reviews and my curiosity in trying the banana cake.
We got in late, so were treated to a very intimate service. Lotus and Ly were very welcoming—we ordered mojitos, chicken pho and the chicken fried rice.
The pho was fresh, the chicken soft and the broth rich and flavoursome. My chicken fried rice was the best fried rice I’d had in recent memory—the chicken it was served with was caramelised, a little sweet a little salty but unlike anything I’d had before. A culinary adventure.
The banana cake with ice cream was also an experience and I’m glad I got to try it.
Best of all, we engaged with our hosts throughout the evening, learning some key Vietnamese phrases that we’ve taken with us and put into use already. Conveniently printed on the back of their business card, I recommend every traveller take one on their journeys.
Cảm ơn...
