This place is a total money grab. They make you pay 250,000 k Vietnamese money after five to see a crappy water show. You CAN not get a waitress to take your order. We finally went to bar after 20 minutes of just sitting there flagging down anyone only to be turned their heads at us. The beer is good. You can go during day for 500 ml beer for a dollar. No one there. You might get service in ten minutes then. Don’t waste your time here. Sungroup total money grab. Go to the market area. Support local. The people here act like they are not even working. Looking at phones. Unbelievable. This picture was after us going to get manager. 35 minutes! Then he smirked as he walked off. Food was just decent.
Update: same day 30 minutes later. Elia manager came up and was super nice. Apologized for the bad service and even gave us two beers on the house. He could not have been nicer. That means a lot. Number one that they read the reviews. And he actually seemed to genuinely care. He said they have lots of new staff which is understandable and they will work on a better system to get orders. I was really impressed by Elia. After this interaction I would definitely come again and give it another go. Most places don’t seem to care. First time anyone has actually tried to make things better. Thank you Elia! So my advice. Just ask for him. He will make it right. Couldn’t have been a nicer guy honestly. The cheeseburger was good. And the beer seriously is the best beer. We have had since leaving the states in July. It’s a dollar for 500 ml from 10am to 5pm. I can’t change the service star until next time and see if it improves. But definitely made us feel better. Elia actually invited us inside to watch the show. It probably is worth the 250k after seeing it. Ask for window seat. Above and beyond Elia!...
Read moreWorse service (and server) ever !! Last night of my family (10 members with 4 elderly and my 80 year old dad with mobility issue) in Phu Quoc and we booked here through our hotel for its Symphony of the Sea show and dinner.
First, the restaurant ignored my dad’s mobility issue and brought us the long way towards our seats. Regardless our hotel requested front row seats (my dad on wheel chair), half of view is blocked by the DJ stand.
Also, right after she took my husband and my order (hotel set dinner), she went straight to the register to input the order and totally ignored my family of 8 (all hungry and 4 seniors in their 60s/70s/80). The two of us ended with food and drink (still missed an order of drink which took an hour, requested 4 times) while my family stayed hungry as server continued to ignore them and served the table of 5 who came after us (for their drink and food soon after)
As she continued to ignore to take my family’s order (hungry and thirsty), after waited for another 15 min with our set meal sitting cold, I finally got up and looked for it’s manager!! Other than gave a note to the server, not much was done after that.
In the end, the insensitive of the restaurant, bad service, servers and management totally destroyed our dinner experience on our last evening in Phu Quoc!
If you care about good service and food, this is definitely NOT THE PLACE!! Btw, not to mention it’s my aunt’s birthday!! Which totally impacted her celebration mood (server totally ignored or does not understand what...
Read moreI have been in Phu Quoc for 60 days and I had a nasty culture shock and I would expect Americans (or anyone that speaks English) to experience the same culture shock. Once you get over this culture shock, Sun Bavaria is actually quite entertaining.
Phu Quoc had a well known shortage of employees in 2019. They fulfilled that need by hiring anyone willing to work for pennies. The type of person serving you here skins cats and eats them for dinner.
It's not a negative thing, it's just a different type of employee who only desires to survive rather than get paid well. The result is employees that behave like animals and respond like animals when approached. And, obviously, you should not approach wild animals like that.
Which is why places around here have different employee levels such as managers...guides....etc. If you are an American in the United States, you can expect to have your waiter take care of all your needs. If you expect that same level of treatment here, you will have a bad time.
Be sure to bring your translator, speak slowly, and expect all low level employees to not understand a word you are saying even though they nod their head making it appear they understand you. If you can overcome this culture shock, you will be able to enjoy this pub as the location is very good and the details inside are very impressive. And the food is very good as well. Nothing out of this world but certainly the high level of comfort food you can expect at a Chilli's...
