We ordered the grouper sashimi set, stir-fried morning glory with pen shell, and fried rice. For a meal for three people plus two grandfather beers, we paid about 2 million VND. The fish weighed about 1.67 kg, and the sashimi combo alone cost 1.67 million VND.
Overall, while the regular Vietnamese dishes seemed average, But I would strongly advise against ordering the sashimi based on my experience.
The sashimi had a strong fishy odor. The smell wasn't apparent right away but became more noticeable the more I chewed. It had a muddy aftertaste similar to farm-raised black rockfish, but it was even worse. I suspect this might be due to the specific species of fish caught in Vietnamese waters rather than the freshness of the fish itself. If the issue was that the fish itself wasn't fresh, it would have tasted fishy as soon as I put it in my mouth.
Plus, The fish was poorly sliced. The chef's knife skills were lacking, resulting in rough cuts. When fish is cut with multiple strokes, it feels mushy rather than firm and bouncy on the tongue.
The fried fish skin was a nice idea, and the batter was good, but the scales were not completely removed. I had to spit out a few pieces, which was quite annoying.
The freshness of ingredients were just average. The pen shell in the stir-fried morning glory were well-prepared with the guts removed, but the meat had a slight seafood smell. I recommend eating them with a squeeze of lime.
ABSOLUTELY, PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THE WASABI SHOWN IN THE PICTURE! This is not the type of wasabi you are used to. After consuming a piece about the size of two or three grains of rice (I did not choke), I couldn't breathe for about a minute due to severe coughing. I have tried many different types of wasabi in Japan and Korea, from freshly grated raw wasabi to fake wasabi made with horseradish, but I have never experienced anything like this. This is not an exaggeration. Please be extremely careful!
I didn't try the lobster because the price seemed unreasonable, but at 260,000 VND per 100g, it is expensive compared to similar restaurants in Sunset Town or other parts of Asia.
For those looking for a clean, like fried rice for lunch, this restaurant is a good option. The staff are attentive, and the dishes don't use too many of the strong spices often found in local Vietnamese cuisine, which is great for people who aren't...
Read morePrices are not worth quality and service level. Unfriendly waiters. Nobody speaks English. If you ask any changes (for example, make without some ingredients) you receive just “No”. One average lobster is 100+ us$ worth. No side dishes, no kids menu. Drinks: only beer, vodka, fanta. No cocktails, no juices. They made an open kitchen to show customers that they are modern and clean, but it looks like most other Vietnamese kitchens (not...
Read moreSeafood was fresh and the portion sizes were good, being able to order in increments of 100g.
The sauces as mentioned by other reviewers do feel like they are poured over and doesn’t necessarily add to the food, so I would recommend getting the steamed versions.
Price wise is expected of the area.
