Hai Bột Eatery Phu Quoc — Restaurant in Phú Quốc

This is the first time in Vietnam we were discriminated against. Me and my husband are Americans, we came by and they were full so they told us to wait about 20 minutes, and they had us sit outside to wait for a table to open up. Not even 10 minutes later, customers started coming out that were finished. I watched as an Asian family of 4 walked in and were seated immediately. I was shocked, so we went inside and asked why they sat that family after telling us we needed to wait for 20 minutes. They cleaned a table really quick and said here, sit down now. We asked them again why they sat the family down after asking us to wait and they said nothing. We decided to leave because why would we spend money at a restaurant who doesn’t want to serve us. The other customers inside that saw us come in the first time were all just watching....

Hai Bot is hands down the best restaurant I've experienced during my 5-day trip in Phu Quoc. Forget the overrated "popular spots" promoted by KOLs — most of them focus more on fancy plating and décor, completely missing the point of what real food should be.

At Hai Bot, the food is not only delicious but served hot, which surprisingly seems rare here. Every dish feels thoughtful and genuine, with flavours that actually speak for themselves. A true gem that respects both the ingredients and the people eating it. Highly recommended.

We came in with 12 people and most of us ordered fried rice. A pretty simple dish u can’t really go wrong with fried rice right? Firstly they took like forever for our food to come out and u could tell that the fried rice was not cooked fresh. I had the fried rice with beef and the only thing that that was halfway fresh was the meat. The rice was cold and had no flavor at all. So then we asked the waiter to put our dishes in the microwave. After our dishes came out again the rice was still the same and some of our dishes were missing. I can’t recommend this place for anyone except ur like ur food cold...
