Today I enjoyed a coffee and an açai bowl. The bowl was the best part of my trip today, a beautiful combination of fruits and berries to make this treat. However, I was concerned by the standard of upkeep, the cafe was very dusty and was swamped by flies making the atmosphere less comfortable. I also believe the staff may need some to revisit the training on how to clean cutlery and wrap them in napkins before use, as the napkin was soggy and my spoon had food particles left. I’ve visited many times and will continue to visit on occasion but improvements should be made.

Nice light filled place to have brekkie right on main street. You order at the counter ( so no service to speak off) . Somehow the women behind the counter managed to convince herself we ordered an iced coffee ( we clearly said a latter and cappucino) but her first language wasn't English.... Thought most of the food was very expensive ( at least in comparison to where we live in Sydney) Coffee was OK as was the croissant. Note: they offer poached eggs only, not scrambled etc

Was at the cafe today and ordered one of the sandwiches they have on display. I asked if they can remove the rocket as I don't really like it when they're toasted. But the lady at the counter asked reluctantly to the other waitress (that act as covid Marshall with high vis vest) if they can do it like that. The waitress looked lazily back saying nah, they can't do it as it came prepared like that. So, alright I take it as I have a short break before my next meeting. And true enough, when the food came out (took about 20 minutes for them to warm up), the sandwich came really soggy with oil, it literally dripping badly, and the rocket...they're as dry as dehydrated flower, crunchy and really dead. I just don't understand as how hard it is to take off the rocket when I ordered. I never have issue if I ask a cafe to remove something from a menu I ordered before but this was something else. Groundfloor was my favourite ever since I moved to Newcastle, it has nice decor and layout. But to be frankly honest, as much as the cafe is nice, if the people in it can't even serve people nicely, it will only drive people away. I'll think twice or even third time now before I visit this place again. I'd rather pay $20 somewhere else that can serve better and definitely without the rolling of the eyes...

All round poor experience. Ordered chicken schnitzel sandwich and bacon & egg roll. They brought the schnitzel sandwich first and 20min later still no sights of the bacon & egg roll. Not really nice to come with a friend for lunch and end up not eating together at the same time. After 20min I asked the waiter and was told that it's coming and that the kitchen was busy... 5min later they served me something I didn't order so they had to take it away and had to wait a further 10min to finally get my bacon & egg roll which turned out to be really average. The roll was overflowing with BBQ sauce which overpowered all the other flavors, couldn't tasted the bacon or egg, all it tasted was BBQ sauce. I also tried my friend's schnitzel sandwich, while it tasted ok, it was extremely oily. We weren't expecting healthy food but that level of oil is unhealthy even for confort food. I do not recommend for the food. Newcastle has plenty of other...

First time here and when I asked for a menu I got a condescending look from kid behind the counter telling me it's only on the board behind him; ok, no worries. My wife pops in to look at the table we sat at had the dirty crockery removed but wasn't wiped down. I came back in to place an order and his attitude continued while I ordered.

The bottle of water and coffee we ordered were brought out a two separate times and neither staff member thought about wiping the table and when we asked the second chap, he said he'd be back and wasn't.

When breakfast was brought out the bloke dropped the cutlery right into the condensation ring of the previous diner. Yay, soggy napkins. Breakfast itself wasn't bad but $13 for a garnish salad, two eggs and a single slice of bread is a bit rich.

All in all, poor service, subpar coffee and...
