I've been a customer of BWM for years now. Their yarns are top-notch, and have never disappointed. Unfortunately, their service has deteriorated, it's usually two weeks or more before an online order is processed for shipping which is super frustrating. There have been times where a substantial period of time has gone by with no notification of shipping, but when I've emailed/messaged it's shipped that day - which is lovely, but I hate that feeling of having to be a 'Karen' so that I can get my hands on my orders in less than a month after ordering (taking into consideration the actual time it takes to get here). One of the excuses given (actually a disclaimer at the top of their webpage) was that they were overwhelmed with orders - which to me means that business must be booming, surely someone could be hired (even part-time) to assist with getting orders out in a timely manner? (note that I know nothing about the retail business.... ;) )
Vent over, I'd give 10 stars out of 5 if the shipping was...
Read moreBendigo Woollen Mills is my go to for yarn! I always choose to buy from BWM despite living interstate because it allows me to shop local(ish) and avoid giving money to big companies. While ordering online doesn't appeal to crafters who prefer to pick their yarn in person, the quality of the fibres on offer at BWM is so consistently fantastic that I have never found myself missing the tactile aspect. BWM's annual sample cards are also hugely helpful for choosing wool to buy online. The process of buying from BWM online is quick, easy, and well communicated (ie. if a colour is in production they will always inform you). I also particularly appreciate the commitment to sustainability and localised production where possible. I recommend BWM to everyone I meet who has an interest in textiles and cannot imagine going anywhere else for my knitting needs! It's just such a steal to be able to buy good quality yarn at a...
Read moreI have been buying Bendigo wool for years now and my mother and I have had such pleasure from knitting. We buy luxury which is a better quality than the classic so we get the best consistency. More recently I have had some trouble with consistency of the ply for the wool. For example luxury 8 ply in cream colour ball was much thicker than 8ply stone colour in the same shipment. This makes it difficult to knit a with two colours for the pattern to work out. The same occurred in the same shipment for luxury 4 ply between colours bubblegum and luxury frost. Can you please advise as how we might in the future when ordering avoid such a contrast in the actual size of the same ply? Is there something we should be specifically requesting? Having said that we also bought baby meadow in pink clouds which is 100 percent fine merino and it was an absolute to knit with magnificent results. I would appreciate your...
