Kirra Beach once the best right hand barrel break in the world there's nothing better than to see kirra pumping I've surfed it 12foot and perfect very fast wave that would spit you out of that barrel like a shotgun, now once in a blue moon does kirra come to life but still one of the GC,s prettiest little beaches family friendly I've been surfing and swimming there since 1970. What a lot of people don't know that about 400 metres off the left hand side of the beach is a reef beautiful back in my day and plenty of fish and things to see under the water, What the Council has done not only to kirra but Snapper Rocks Greenmount is pump way to much sand in doing so destroying all 3 beaches surf banks and covering the reef Snapper and greenmount with to much sand real estate thing is the beaches were fine storm swell would take the sand an bring it back all the council has done is control it which in the long run destroys what once was, But hey its a great family beach and in my eye's one of the best waves in the...
Read moreKirra Beach is one of the most beautiful and relaxing beaches on the Gold Coast. With its long stretch of soft golden sand, clear blue waves rolling in, and endless sunshine, it feels like a postcard come to life. The atmosphere is both lively and laid-back – you’ll see surfers riding the waves, families enjoying the water, and plenty of people stretched out under the sun just soaking in the coastal vibe.
What makes Kirra unique is its natural beauty and calm energy compared to the busier Surfers Paradise. It has a slightly quieter, more local feel, but still with all the charm of a classic Gold Coast beach. The views are spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset when the sky lights up with amazing colors over the ocean.
Whether you want to swim, surf, sunbathe, or simply sit back and enjoy the sea breeze, Kirra Beach delivers the perfect balance of nature and relaxation. It’s a must-visit spot if you want to experience the true Gold Coast lifestyle – iconic, refreshing, and...
Read more4 distinct memories of Kirra beach. 1st 2 times happened on the same day. Seeing 8 or 9 Quickcats lined up on the beach (like Hobie Cats only made out of wood with Hiking Boards) and my 1st snow cone in 1964 - 3rd time was a regatta of sorts, "The Kirra Marathon" 5 years later, about 25 to 30 boats raced up to a mark off Surfers Paradise and the winner was GOLD COASTER a "C" Class catamaran and skippersd by Brian Anstey and they lapped the fleet that day. The last time was 1997 and I had a great Pizza Hut there, I doubt that that Pizza Hut exists anymore and I know for a fact that those boats are long gone as well. The only thing I can't swear to is the snow cones, but I'm bedridden now so a visit is not going to happen because logistically speaking it's a nightmare for all concerned. That said I always liked Kirra Beach as my favorite place on the Gold Coast apart from the Magic Millions raceday and yearling sales/ or the odd trip to Twin Towns...
