Arrived on a Wednesday night on 27 march Set my own table up in the window for my wife and myself after waitress said to help yourself. I placed water on the table serviettes cutlery and even placed a chair against the table on an angle which is a universal sign to mean occupied. We went to the bar to order our dinner and return to our table to see within four minutes of leaving it being cleared by another waiter who is setting up four tables connecting and I said what are you doing to our table ?? I said but you just got rid of my Table and he says because there’s no one sitting there he cleared it… Now I’m Peeved …I said mate it was all set up and you clear it. Did it not come to your brain that someone was actually sitting there?? Did it not occur the chair on an angle meant reserved.? The waiter had no idea the table was being used after which I said well you’re not clearing the table move the other people away. I’m sitting at this table as it was my table in the first place and we had to reset it ourselves. To say I was livid and angry is an understatement. We ordered a $10 steak and fish and chips. Steak was great and fish was okay. Chips were cold. Would I come back to the lookout bar my answer is no. Not the greatest experience for an out-of-state visitor to Scarborough Beach. Train your staff and teach him how to have respect for the customers and how to communicate better if one waitress knew we were sitting and he should’ve checked with another waitress and not just assumed that the table may have been vacant. Yeh nah .. won’t be back !

Update: In the 2 years since the positive Paella experience we have visited the Lookout many times for a cold drink, a quick lunch or both. Our latest experience was noteworthy. We had the strange but delicious Cheeseburger spring rolls (3) as an entree, Barramundi x 2 and a Nasi Goreng with chicken. They were generous and very tasty. The fish cooked perfectly. The staff are always welcoming and efficient. Just had the most amazing Paella. Had quite a few in my time, mainly home made by expert aunties. This Sunday treat at the Lookout is chock full of delicious proteins and each ingredient is perfectly cooked. Great value for money and what a location. Two pints for $12 was a bonus for our table.

Blew through on a Friday lunchtime looking for a beer. Weather was crap and lots of rain. The place was not packed at lunch time this day but you know this place rocks at peak times. Pool tables and bowling alley to keep you interested if that's you're go. Lots of space with inside and outside areas. At the front your looking out towards the ocean. The menu is wide and decently priced. We had chicken wings and wedges and chips to nibble on and they were good. As the arvo wore on the tradies in flouro started to arrive for a Fri drink. I liked this place as it had a good feel and nice views. I reckon this place is packed at peak timex.

My partner and I had a horrible experience this weekend at lookout bar. We went during the day on a Saturday, not many people just a birthday party in the corner. All we wanted was to have a drink and have a round of bowling. Before we even started this unsupervised group of toddlers ran across the bowling lanes right up to the pins even pushing them over. One parent from the event came over and said “sorry these aren’t my kids” while doing the bare minimum to usher the kids off the bowling lanes until one member of wait staff came over to assist and kindly reset our interrupted game. Then again right before we finished our game these small group of kids AGAIN came running up grabbing the bowling balls, throwing them everywhere, ran across the lanes as we’ve almost gone to throw a ball and has run and pushed the pins down yet again. At this stage we are now furious as this has now interrupted the first game a second time! Another parent came to try and usher these kids off and said the exact same thing as the first one. “sorry only this one is my kid” to which we asked “who is the parent to these individuals because can they please be supervised for their own safety. This is getting ridiculous now”.

My partner and I decided we’d try have a second game as the first was a total disaster. And after commencing the second game what a surprise. The kids had returned to run across the lanes and throw balls down the lane interrupting our game yet again. At this point we had, had enough and walked over to the birthday party in a respectable manner requesting to speak to some parents to ask that they please supervise their kids and that we are trying to just have a game and that they’re going to get themselves hurt”. Someone stated that their parents were “busy” and couldn’t get them. We then walked away and finished the remainder of our game to the best of our ability so we could leave. One member of the party then proceeded to go to another member of staff and complained about us and we then proceeded to receive rude service for the short remainder of the time we were there.

A big thank you to the first member of staff who allowed us to restart our games and assisted with removing the children off the lanes. However, highly disappointed with the second member of staff and her very poor attitude and service towards us after no fault of our own and after being very patient with the children and...

Absolutely pathetic treatment and service! Firstly, the security fella was rude and arrogant when we first got into the venue (refer camera around 4:45pm on Saturday 22nd of May at the side entry). We sit close to the DJ area because elsewhere where busy or booked. They didn't have any sign informing that that area was booked. We decide to order our dinner and, after a good few minutes ordering our food using the table tag, the blond manager put a sign informing a reservation has been done to that area. After we got our food, the same arrogant security guy shows and requested us to leave the area immediately because that area has been reserved and told us to find another place to eat. The whole restaurant was full, no tables available and we ended up eating standing up on the bowling area. The worst part is the original place that we were sitting was still empty after we finished our food. Staff with no common sense whatsoever and disorganized!!!!! Not mention that half staff were talking and walking, doing nothing when the other half were crazy busy at the bar and delivering food. Also, because the order had been made on the table number, my wife didn't get her drink delivered and had to go at the bar request her drink (while we were standing eating our dinner). The lady who attended her was very polite and understadable with the situation and requested the cocktail maker to make another drink to my wife, (which the guy refusesed to remake to her a coupe of times). Very disappointed experience, we didn't enjoy our dinner at all. The sad part is we used to go to Lookout many many times at the begging of our relationship and yesterday we decided to go there to celebrate our 2 years anniversary and it definitely removed all the good experiences we used...

Overall, service was very poor, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional, there website displays false information and our very short time there was terrible. Arrived at 9:15pm on a Tuesday night for drinks after work for my friends birthday. Checked on google prior to coming and their closing times said 12am. Also checked on their website which said "until late". After arriving we were told by the security guard that last drinks were at 9:45pm. As we assumed they were open until late/12am, we quickly order 10 drinks (between 4 of us) before the bar closed. Our drinks took half an hour to make and didn't come until 10pm. At 10:15pm, the security guard told us we had to leave as they were closing. We had 15 minutes to drink 10 drinks. We asked if we could have a bit more time or a refund. The manager then came out with a horrible attitude, and told us we had to leave now. We asked her why the bar staff would serve us all our drinks if they were closing in 15 minutes and we also told her that google and her website says they are open until late/12am. She told us we were very rude and were "obviously taking the piss" with a very aggressive tone and said she had had "a long hard weekend so we should be more considerate when ordering drinks". When we asked if we could have a refund for the drinks we order she continued to argue with us and stated "we obviously have never worked in a bar" and that she would not offer us a refund. She then said we had 10 minutes to finish all our 10 drinks and get out of the bar and stormed off. Overall, service was very poor, the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional, there website displays false information and our very short time there...
