I donât normally leave reviews but I have just moved to the area and decided to go out. This is the first bar we went into and to say it was a let down is an understatement. We ordered a drink and my girlfriend went to use the bathroom. There were no seats, so I stood in the outside area on my phone waiting for her to come back. I had 2 sips of my drink when a bouncer came over and told me to leave because I was too drunk. We had not even been in the bar 10 minutes at this stage. My girlfriend came back and I told her what happened, so we asked to speak to the manager. A girl came out and told us she was basically too busy to have a quick conversation with us. She then said yes she agrees we did not seem drunk but she has to go by what the bouncer says and we need to leave. She said no one is allowed to be drunk in the bars over here? When there was definitely people who were drunk. So I am not sure why I was unfairly targeted while I was stood by myself. A guy came out after her to speak to us and he was even less help, just abrupt and rude so we left after that. I did try to get their names but they all covered their badges which was strange. We had only just got out so we did not want to cut our night short. So we decided to go into the bar next door for the man to say ânot tonight mate the bar next door have already messaged me to say they threw you out of there.â He didnât even make his own call or judgement. I have read through the reviews on this page and it seems to be an ongoing issue. It seems bouncers get it into their head that they have so much power to use.. very weird way of thinking and the bar doesnât seem to be doing much about this. I seen on other reviews they have said they will speak to the staff and they donât always make the right calls etc. These reviews were from months ago and it seems like the issue is still very much relevant for this bar. Very disappointing especially being the...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews but i think people should be warned of this place and to avoid it. Some friends and i were having a long over due catch up and decided to go to the Galway Hooker in Scarborough for a meal earlier in the evening. We had spent around an hour and a half at the establishment had some drinks and ordered our meals . Everyone at the table was thrilled with there meals and complimented the staff on how excellent the food was including myself. The evening was going great until a security guard came to our table singled me from the group and said i was to drunk and needed to leave. None of our group displayed signs of intoxication or behavioral patterns that would suggest so and were puzzled as to why i was being asked to leave which brings me to the conclusion that he was being racially discriminative. After passively talking to the security, everyone decided as a group that we would finish our drinks and head to another more professional establishment or so we thought. The security had messaged ahead and barred our group from other bars in the area. Thats why i would not recommend Galway hooker bar , you are not valued as a customer , after buying meals, drinks, and complimenting the staff you will be unjustfully treated . After reading through the reviews it appears im not the only one who has had similar mistreatment for the same reason so this suggest this isn't a one off isolated problem but recurring one. Management needs to give proper training to the unprofessional security team so personal prejudice doesn't interfere with correct...
Read moreNot Irish, Not Christmas in July, Over priced Noisy miserable place.
Sunday session for Christmas in July what a totally miserable experience. The place is so noisy inside you cannot make out what the band is singing, just duff duff duff plus crowd noise. No way to fix the noise issue without a 3-6 month total venue refurbishment. On the way out on the verandah I could finally hear what the band was singing, Bruce Springsteen. Not an Irish singer, Not an Irish band, NOT an Irish pub. Most pubs have a specials menu, Christmas in July what a joke, no special menu for Christmas food, no Christmas pudding mince pies etc. just the standard food menu. Only Christmas thing was roast turkey instead of roast pork, even that was not a traditional Christmas roast. No stuffing, no cranberry sauce, covered in gravy so you can hardly taste the turkey. Yorkshire puddings are not a traditional Christmas food so why were they provided instead of stuffing. Prices are one third more expensive than most Perth pubs. I was so disappointed and miserable I left straight after the main meal and left half a bottle of $70 bottle of wine on the table. Its Monday and I am still miserable. Only worth visiting in fine weather when you can sit on the verandah and listen to the not Irish music and eating and drinking your overpriced fare. I would not visit this venue even if the owner offered free food and drink to my entire...
