This almost surreal spot attracts the crowds, including families, lunchtime office workers, bikini slayers, young seniors, and Barangaroo walkers who accidentally stumble upon this gem.
While there is a shark net, there is plenty of ocean life to snorkle - around. Just today we saw an octopus, and what looked to be a scorpion fish at the far end of the cove. We a just gave them extra room. No touching. All good. Like most ocean pools, we ran into the occasional jellyfish, but these were harmless. Still, check the water, and know your local jellyfish.
Some of the stone boulders have oyster shell remnants, so just pick your spot to enter/exit the water, specially with little ones.
There are toilet facilities and an outdoor (cold water) shower.
At this point, there's no lifeguard. Just be aware of this, as the middle of the cove is deep.
Also check water depth before jumping from the end of the cove as this varies (3 meter at midday).
You can find shady spots, but again, these are popular.
Also, no accessible water entry via wheelchair.
On-street metered parking (peak hour) is approximately $6.60/hour (Jan 2023, coins and card tap available). Parking officers are ready to pounce, so keep an eye on time if parked close by.
Enjoy this gorgeous cove for the perfect outdoor city swim, a lazy snooze on one of the boulders or the grass, or even a picnic with boat watching.
Happy travels!

Read moreFor those under the impression there is a shark net here's a 'fun' fact for you ... it has a bloody great hole in the middle section. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw a guy swimming just on the inside of it and moments later on the outside of it. I watched some more and saw him an another going through the net multiple times. In case my eyes were deceiving me I went and had a chat with one of them. He showed me with his hands how big the hole was ... huge. It's almost beyond belief that an international city like Sydney would set people up with such risk !!! I assume it's the responsibility of Sydney County Council. Later found out it's "Placemaking NSW" and some property manager who are responsible and attempts to communicate with them by any means have shown me they are impenetrable and unaccountable. Allegedly they fixed the hole. Do I trust them or any other Sydney shark net given this...
Read moreThis would be a perfect swimming spot if they installed some simple safety measures prior to opening. There were no signs indicating the need for reef shoes and unfortunately my husband had been there for 2 minutes before he slipped on the green moss and sliced his foot which ended in 10 stitches. I had to chase down a ranger for a first aid kit that wasn’t even available at the time, however luckily a bystander had some bandage tape after her own incident there.
We would love to access this swimming spot however with no hand rails or stairs to access the water it seems like the risk outweighs the benefits. I was lucky I didn’t go in being pregnant as a fall like my husbands could have been extremely dangerous in my position.
I urge the state Govt to please install some Safety measures so we can utilise this beautiful spot of...
