Using my partner's account as I'm having technical trouble. This was 6 months ago, I was in Sydney for the weekend and was quite sore so tried this place out. I booked a long massage which was not cheap, $190, but if it's good then it's worth it.
The receptionist was quite cold and I felt pretty unwelcome to be honest, like I wasn't good enough for their fine establishment. I paid upfront (fine), and was directed upstairs. I have longstanding back and neck issues and usually hear from the massage therapist about my knots and what I want them to focus on etc. But I could barely get her to focus on the massage!
I am an extremely anxious person (socially and in general) and i also try to be polite to people. I prefer to not talk much in massages, other than discussing the massage itself.
But she would not stop talking! She even started talking about her political views and about covid and all this scary stuff - NOT exactly conducive to a relaxing massage experience!
And the more she talked, the more she seemingly kept forgetting about the massage! I didnt want to be rude so i politely responded to her endless conversation, asking her to please use more pressure.. oh yes of course! And then she forgot again! Over and over this happened.
Due to the sheer awkwardness of it I didn't pull her up on it, kept trying to politely steer her back to the massage and to focus on the pressure. I came out of it not feeling any better than when I went in, and left $190 poorer.
Especially considering the steep price, I wasn't happy. I felt unwelcome the second i walked in. While the massage therapist was nice enough, I didn't want to be having a long conversation about our personal lives, especially given how distracting it was to the both of us. I regret not asking for my money back on the spot (though i doubt i would have gotten even a...
Read moreInitial review: 19/6/25, 2/5 stars. I received a gift voucher for my birthday, however being 6 months pregnant I cannot use the bathhouse so I booked a pregnancy massage instead. My therapist tried her best to make me comfortable, but the massage table had been missing a part with a hole to allow me to lie down on my stomach, meaning I had to be side lying. Being able to lie on my stomach was something I was looking forward to, so I was disappointed. My appointment was booked with weeks of notice, there should have been ample time to repair their table beforehand, or at least contact me to ask my preference (I booked my appointment in person not online). Being side lying also affected the amount of pressure my therapist could use without pushing me over, and later that day I still felt like my back and legs needed another massage. The massage itself was light and relaxing, and my therapist did a good job with what she had to work with, however it was not what I was expecting or looking forward to. If I knew beforehand about this location's table restrictions I would have just waited until I was postpartum and had a different service. Update 11/7/25: The operations manager contacted me and we arranged another massage at the glebe location. It was fantastic, they had a proper pregnancy cushion so i could lie on my stomach, and the therapist Susan was splendid. I have updated my review to reflect the follow up and complemtary service i recieved and i will add a seperate review to the Glebe...
Read moreEdited to add, they have not even remotely tried to contact me. Their response is disingenuous and I don't believe they will make any improvements. Btw, one of their employees told me she gets her massages at a competing spa in Newtown. That says a lot!
Firstly, everyone was lovely and professional. Sadly I didn't enjoy the services I had here.
I booked a package deal of a massage and facial. When you book online, they ask you if there's anywhere you don't want to be massaged and if there's anywhere you do. Both of my requests were ignored.
The massage was all forearms and elbows. There was no nuance or finesse at all. It was just rough and firm. Every other massage I've ever had has included conversation from the massage therapist about any knots or tight muscles they found. This one included none of that. And strangely, my entire back area was massaged but the only front part of my body massaged was the upper part of my chest. My quads were completely ignored. I felt as though the massage therapist mistook me for a front row forward with the pressure she used. I woke up the next day in pain! It was a very firm massage. I hated it.
The facial included another massage. I think this needs to be reconsidered because I sure didn't need another massage during the facial. My shoulders and neck were so over worked that I had to take pain killers when I got home. My skin sure looked nice though. I also didn't like the facilities. It's pretty much an old,...
