It is my husband's birhday today so I wanted a place in Brussels that had great reviews so I came across this place. We patiently waited to be seated indoors even though the manager and other waiters saw us and didn't say anything. We eventually got seated and ordered our food. Everything was going smoothly, until the shocking reaction from the waiter regarding the floor mess which I was planning to clean it up before we left.
Disrespectful staff who don't understand that babies can make a mess on the floor, even though I was going to ask for a dustpan and brush after paying the bill.
The waiter told us we were disrespectful and that he had never seen such a mess. I said that I wanted to clean it up, so I did, as other customers watched me, and he kept going like a loose cannon.
He then told me "to stop sweeping, it is okay" because he knew he was in the wrong.
The manager was useless and didn't even understand English. The manager and the waiters claimed that cleaning the floor was not their duty. Does that mean they never clean the floor at this restaurant? Also, they only seem to accept cash?!
The staff's reaction was unprofessional and inappropriate. Babies can indeed be messy, and it's common for restaurants to experience this.
I would avoid this place at all costs if you have a family. I also feel like we were racially targeted. We travelled from London for a weekend away in Brussels. This experience has ruined our evening and my...
Read moreIt pains me to says this, but this restaurant was utterly disappointing.
Unfortunately we kept waiting for the food to be worth it, but our hopes were crushed when we had to put salt in the food wishing it would fix the lack of flavor.
The customer service is the first impression, and it was lacking: a little rude, took too long to take the orders, to 15 minutes waiting for the glasses to drink, 10 min for the bill after asking, and rumor has it we are still waiting for them in order to pay.
But okay, maybe the food would be worth it? Everything you need to know depends on your feeling for 17€ starters (the average). Then you see a dish for almost 30€, and think that at least it will be good food right? Well, I already spoiled how that went in the beginning, just did not mention that I had to double check if I did not order starters by the size of the plate.
Overall, I am a 23 year old who has absolutely no standards, but with the 70€ minimum I paid for 2 people I wish I had spent it in beer, fries and waffles (multiple of them) in literally any place in the street.
It does get 2 starts because I am not a monster, the Stew dish was good (in the 3 bites we got out of it), and the Mussels were good...
Read moreStopped in on a Saturday just after 8:30, when our first choice restaurant in the area had no tables, and everywhere else was packed or closing soon. This place was close to our hotel and open later than other spots.
To start, we had the grey shrimp croquettes. It was pretty underwhelming because there weren’t much shrimp in there and what was in there was dry and rubbery. But the main courses were a bit better. Hubby had the filet americaine, aka beef tartare with frites and it was a huge portion. They def add mayo or some kind of sauce to it because the color is different than what we are used to in the states. I was hesitant about it at first just because it looks different but we both ate it and were fine, thankfully. Both this and the shrimp app came with a much appreciated salad. I had the mussels with garlic cream and frites and really liked it. The sauce was nice, there were only a couple of pieces with sand, and it was a huge portion.
The cafe is definitely a tourist trap but one of the better tourist traps because the food is actually okay. Only thing that’s sketch is that they don’t accept credit cards, so just keep...
