Amazing croquetttes! Small shrimp on the inside and the outside of a fried crunchy potato dumpling: what's not to love? We also ordered this great pitcher of sangria at the beginning of the meal, which was decently boozy but the chunks of banana, apple, and oranges provided a nice sweet element to the meal. The Belgian waffle that we got at the end of the meal was decent, though the whipped cream made it a little soggier than I would've liked. The owner of the restaurant had a beaming smile throughout the entire night, and it felt so welcoming and that he was genuinely happy to have us in the restaurant. Would recommend this place every time, actually left with the business card so I can do exactly that. On our last night in Brussels, we were looking for a nice place to eat and randomly found Resto26. We had an amazing experience. Our waiter, who I believe was also the owner, was incredibly considerate, nice, polite and funny. Overall, incredible service, giving a proper amount of time between the different course. When it comes to the food, we were not disappointed, the starters were amazing, but then our main courses, which were salads, were also absolutely delicious. The building and location are the main assets of this restaurant. There was a weird sour smell in the air, but this might be subjective. Anyways it did not smell very inviting as you would expect from a French/Italian restaurant. Food was bland - shrimp diabolique served on a cold plate, made the shrimp room temperature at the time of serving. Not even a bit spicy and the sauce had no substance to it. Steak was cooked beautifully, but the mushroom sauce did not have a hint of that taste I was looking for. More like a lot of flour and salt and champignons.
