A beautifully well-constructed bridge with 4 lion statues which has zero thing to do with any real lion story! Educational facts:1)It’s a stone arch bridge. 2)it was built from 1889 till 1891 by Czech architect ,his brother and cousins. 3)Why is it called lions bridge? It’s a bridge with 4 lion statues. It is a bridge over the Vladaya River(no river at the moment) and it connects you to the Central Railway Station, Marie Louise Boulevard and Slivnitsa Boulevard. (you can find all of the above facts also on Wikipedia) Practical facts:1) On this bridge, you have free benches to sit. 2) Around this bridge and depending on which side you are looking at ,you have supermarkets, open market called women’s market , different kinds of shops like coffee shops of which some can be expensive but a few block walk, you will have cheaper and good quality ones. The immigration office isn’t far from this bridge. Transportation: Metro station M2 is right there(you have to cross the road and go under) and many different Tram numbers and buses. If you want to take a bus to visit other cities in Bulgarian or other countries, you are not far from the bus station from this bridge((it’s called central railway station). 4)Be careful because sometimes, some misbehaving or drunk people can be found around this bridge. So on this bridge that has nothing to do with real lions and nearby, you will find almost everything you need.

Lions’ Bridge is a small but iconic landmark in Sofia, known for the four impressive lion statues that guard each corner. Built in the late 19th century, it has both historical and architectural value. The area around the bridge has been renovated, making it a pleasant place to walk through, with cafes and shops nearby. While it’s not a major attraction you’d spend hours at, it’s worth seeing if you’re exploring the city

One of the best squares in Sofia! It's one of the most historical parts of the city and in the past it was the main entrance to the center. The lions are made I Austria and the architects were from the Czech Republic. It's really beautiful place at the day and especially in the evening. The metro station under the bridge is also really impressive! There are great restaurants too and non stop shops.

Iconic place in the heart of Sofia city. A must see ( There are two Animal related bridges in Sofia- Lion's Bridge and Eagle's Bridge. Both marking the gates of Old Sofia town, now the City. These are from the time when Bulgaria was a kingdom and most of the buildings were built by Austro-Hungarian, German and French architects.) Now Lion's Bridge not far from The Central Railway Station and the famous Market (Zhenski pazar/ Female Market). Also short walk to the remains of the Roman city of Serdica and Vitosha Street (pedestrian only street with many shops, coffee shops and restaurants and amazing view to...
