Waking up and shuttling off to work is already a chore, however necessary, so as a result, breakfast usually gets sacrificed. It falls off to the wayside in favor of a Starbucks, or, if I’m feeling particularly energetic, a Sausage and Egg McMuffin from the Golden Arches. Yes, breakfast is a lost luxury that I rarely have a chance to partake in.
When I do get to feast on this essential meal, Cora is the place that I usually find myself at. Why, you ask? Because it is one of the few restaurants that specializes in breakfast done right. With a contentedly smiling sun as the face of their brand, how could you not be happy as you ready yourself for an avalanche of sweets, savories, skillets, pancakes, waffles, fruit, and much much more.
Stepping into Cora, you are greeted by large signage and black and white photographs that capture a history I can only imagine. And that bright sun is literally everywhere. It’s as if you are forbidden from being depressed here, and that’s something I don’t think that I’ve ever written in any of my reviews.
The menu is ridiculously huge, so I defy anyone to NOT find something to eat. All of it is delicious, and the portions are refreshingly intimidating. There is absolutely no skimping of food, you are getting your money’s worth here and then some. Shrinkflation has obviously been laughed out of this establishment. Bottom line, you will not leave here hungry. In fact, you’ll probably have enough leftovers to carry over into lunch and dinner.
Every dish is amazing, but I would like to note that the thick slices of bread they offer are beyond generous. And what’s more, they’re so soft. This isn’t day old bread, I promise you that. But bread is only as good as its topping, and Cora delivers with the good stuff: Jif Peanut Butter and Smuckers Jam. If that doesn’t hook you, I don’t...

Read moreI visited your restaurant located at 7155 Kingsway, Burnaby BC on Saturday September 21. I ordered 2 orders of Sunshine Panini with no eggs. I specified to the waitress that I have a kiwi contact allergy. Our food took extra long as the first time they made them with eggs and had to redo them. The 2nd time the plates came full of Kiwi. I sent the plates back and asked for a remake. I heard someone in the kitchen say just take the kiwi off and serve it. The waitress then brought me 2 bowls of fruit and stated she ensured there is no kiwi contact. I questioned and reconfirmed that I have a severe allergy she said ya ya you're okay. Our paninis showed up immediately after. My husband and I looked at each other in question but decided to trust and ate anyway. I have been suffering since the meal. While eating, my mouth felt itchy and I asked the waitress again and she assured me there was no kiwi contact. Since Saturday my lips have been swollen, burning, cracked and I have hives on my body. If I was anaphylactic, I would certainly not be able to write this message to you today. Allergies need to be taken more seriously. Someone would have seriously been injured or died as a result of the teams neglect that day. I'm in pain. I'm alive but in pain. This is absolutely not acceptable and I will be reporting this incident. Please use this as your opportunity to train your...
