This is my first time ever writing a review.... Was at this pub last night, had a wonderful night until our waitress forgot to give me back my credit card and ID I used to hold our tab. The pub requires a credit card and ID if you want a tab which is fair but a little annoying. When it came time to clear our bill we paid with cash and left. It wasn't until I was half way home in my cab I realized our waitress hadn't given me back my credit card and ID. I had to ask my cab driver to turn around and take me back, which made for a pricey cab ride. When I arrived back they were cleaning up, I first went to the bar (where I imagine they would keep the credit cards) and advised my credit and ID were not given back to me. The person behind the bar just sort of starred at me and didn't offer any advice. I then noticed our waitress and approached her and told her I didn't get my credit card and ID back, she too just sort of starred at me, then said yes I gave it back. I doubled checked my purse, wasn't there. I was with a friend who was quite drunk so I asked if maybe she gave it to her, she replied yes I did. Which is fine but annoying as credit cards should be given back to the person who gave it to you. I was about to leave and apologized for bothering her. She then looked in her pouch and there they were! I am a little annoyed she has no memory of what she did with someones credit card(as we had left maybe half an hour before) and it also makes me nervous it was just shoved in her pouch. I would hope they would handle peoples credit cards better. More so she never apologized or really said anything. I am not one to make a scene so I just left but the situation has been bugging me all night. Not only was it a hassle to go back, it pretty much doubled the price of my cab ride. An apology would have...
Read moreI visited Jameson's once in May of 2017 right after my wedding. It was a small affair just me, the husband, and our two best people. Our waitress seemed off the whole time. She didn't ask us how we were doing. Everyone at our table worked in some type of service role so we found it very odd. ( Two of our group are still in management roles in food industry jobs.) We tried to make conversation and she just wouldn't respond, not even a smile.
The food was decent, but nothing we couldn't have made at home.
The atmosphere was actually pretty spot on for what we expected. I remember liking the decor and lighting.
The real issue was when we went to pay. We all decided to pay seperately. I paid first for my one drink but didn't tip. When she picked up the machine she sort of slammed it down in front of my husband. So naturally he didn't tip. Than she kind of threw it at the best man, stormed a few feet away, and glared at us. So he changed his mind from his original intention and didn't tip her. Finally our maid of honor paid cash and only had exact change for what she ordered.
(I feel like it is important to note that we all consistently tip when we eat out. For all four of us to seperately decide not to do so is a red flag )
The waitress was livid. She yelled at us as we left to not return if we wouldn't tip beucase she had to tip-out to the kitchen. So we never did, tipping shouldn't be an expectation especially when the experience is lack-luster.
If the service had been better I probably would have given a 4 star review. Maybe in the future I'll have to re-visit but after this experience on my wedding night it's hard to forget how...
Read moreAbrasive bright lighting, where pubs are supposed to be calming and dim. TVS all over the place, where there's not TVs there's bright light signs framed.
When I came in there was lots of space, but I had trouble finding a free table that wasn't still dirty. Finally sat. Got the veggie burger. Served with no napkins. Came out MUSHY AND SOGGY. But the waitress didn't come back to check how the food tasted. I waited so long for her to come round, I gave up and went to the bar. Bartender told me she'd send her my way and I STILL didn't see her for another five mins.
didn't trust chef to retry it so I ordered nachos instead. I got the worst nachos of any pub or restaurant in years. barely any cheese, not layered at all, and instead of having tomatoes and onion baked in, they serve pico de Gallo on the side instead. It's just jalapenos, olives, chives and cheese. Not baked or browned which is a must for nachos. I think literally just microwaved. Was too hungry to care at that point.
The music was really loud for a pub as well, and it's oddly designed where tables at the back are too close to the washrooms. No one wants to hear dryers going off endlessly between blaring music while they're just there to relax.
I don't fault the waitresses and staff for the gift card issues at the end. I don't know what happened there. But I will say, I love going to pubs. I've been to tons around the city. But from food quality to the waitress not checking in on the food to the atmosphere, I'm absolutely never...
