STEER CLEAR! Disrespectful and outright rude, with an aggressive touch of racism from the man working the store (not the woman who minded her own business). Unwelcoming attitude. I wanted to spend upwards of 500$ here just a FYI.
Went today in the afternoon, store was dead there 1 or 2 more people there simply browsing - so not busy at all. Walked in, no greetings or anything (that’s fine not a big deal), spent a few mins browsing and there were some items I wanted a price check on, walked up to the man at the counter and asked him about some stuff and he immediately looked ticked off (like what?), I ignored it and later asked him if he could let me the know price of an item High above that I could not see to which he replies “do you actually want or am I gonna waste my time checking/ bringing it down”
Like excuse me ? What gives you the right to be this disrespectful on a simple price check request ? Is it not your job to inform customers of the price ? That was so extremely rude and btw I have said literally nothing else to the point besides literally asking for the price of a few items including the big box at the top.
My bad on thinking, I’d support a local store (I’m an avid collector of video game stuff) nope I’m met with the most rude and disrespectful man (who acted like this unprovoked ).
There is a review on this store SIX YEARS AGO that practically talks verbatim to what I’m saying so this seems to be the culture at this store, rude and disrespectful. As another review says, their business will be taken elsewhere and so will mine, I’d highly suggest re-educating yourself and fixing that utterly attitude. Big shame as I could have easily spent 500$ and way more over the coming months, thank you for turning us away. Expect an email about this in your inbox from my partner (if there is even a proper HR to deal with this...
Read moreResponse to the owner: Good to hear from you, again maybe it's just me from how I perceive it is different than most others but I'm just taking it for face value from my personal experiences in visiting store the past couple times. That and a couple of friends and people I know say similar. No hard feelings man and I hope this review doesn't effect any potential future business opportunities if any show up.
This store, I checked it out again, hoping things have changed. In fact, it has gone downhill even more. I don't think Brian is there anymore, cause I haven't seen him in ages. Besides the fact, the prices are still a premium compared to another store in New West, not to mention some prices are even worse than eBay. Also, the trade-in value has gone significantly downhill, at least before the prices were higher, trade in value was higher. I was offered an insulting $15 store credit for a stack of games some good, some bad, but when I had two games that were $20 each retail that's insulting. Not to mention I saw the two games that were worth that price for $24.95-$29.95 in-store! Went to their competitors and received $50 credit! Overall, I miss the old feeling of this place, where a long time ago I could get a laugh with a staff, enjoy browsing and knowing their prices are competitive. Now to me it seems like it's all about the money, and there's no heart in the current staff anymore. I respect they are a business, but this is no longer my go to place for the mentions above. Not to mention, it is a museum like there is lots of variety but that can easily conclude things aren't selling. Best wishes to Gamedeals as even though things have changed, it is still a landmark of...
Read moreI'm going to leave this review as a piece of information based on actual past experiences. How I've felt about those experiences are completely personal and my feelings alone shouldn't deter anyone else from bringing their business here.
To start, when I've traded in or sold my collection of games here, it gave probably the worst value for them, in comparison to other used game stores. While only a select few of my games brought decent value, all of my Sega Genesis / Mega Drive games were given a value of $1 each in store credit, meaning that in cash I would have received 50 cents per game. I noted that, some games I had, like Aladdin, were still given the same value... it wasn't until after, I'd realized that the very same game was going for incredibly much higher prices at other used game stores.
Service has always been a mixed bag for myself. As can be noted from other reviews, the store can be empty at times. My experiences usually fell on times like this. At first, I made the effort to engage staff in casual conversation, though more times than not, I was met with very cold and abrasive responses. The most I ever got out of a conversation was discussing the absurd and variety of flavors of imported Pop Tarts and Soda. Besides from making idle chatter, there was a particular time when I was searching for a Rock Band guitar for the 360. I asked the staff at the time if they had any, and without saying a word, she simply pointed to a box of unsorted plastic peripherals that was underneath the table of games. A bit confused, she then told me to, "Go look for it yourself". I ended up not finding what I was...
