At first glance it's simply a concrete track in an oval shape, but there's more to it. It's chilled to maintain an ice surface in the winter, and still makes a great track for rollerblading or cycling in the summer. All equipment is available to borrow at no charge (!), allowing anyone to try out a new sport or just have a good time.
Every time I come here I marvel at how lucky we are to have such a wonderful place. More than just a beautifully-located, central, immaculately-maintained sports oval, it is an invitation to Haligonians and visitors to embrace the city, the outdoors, an active lifestyle, and each other. Read moreIf you go rollerblading you better be on your toes. I got hit by one biker thankfully not hurt. I told staff there were kids in the rollerblade lanes non stop but it just continued about 30 minutes later i got hit by a kid who was in rollerblade lane who almost knocked me on top of them but thankfully i kept my balance. I told staff again but it just continued with kids on bikes being in the rollerblade lane then out and then in. I had a friend who also almost got smoked and a other friend who had to get into the grass or would have got hit. If this doesnt change people will get hurt...

There are skating shoes to lend, and you can change your skating shoes just out of the Emera Oval on the benches nearby without worries about damaging your skating shoes.
