FreshCo Kalar & Lundy's Lane — Attraction in Niagara Falls

This is a message to Satinder K and your lack of customer service.

Grocery shopping with my sister and niece. We were lined up on lane 3 as it was in our direction and the line was already curving. Line 1 and 2 were just as long going into the aisles. Only 3 cashiers out of 8 tills available and no self check out. In front of us were two people. As we approach closer the cashier tells us this is an express lane we have to go somewhere. Obviously I am in shook and upset because we have been waiting long already. I removed my items from the cart to put in a basket since we were paying separately. My sister has stage 4 cancer, she told me prior to this interaction with the cashier that she wanted to go home because she was starting to feel sick again therefore being asked to go on another long time at the back to wait more is very rude of the cashier. And my sister was also with a 5 year old child.

A better approach would have been to cash us out, instead you embarrassed us in public on a long line and did not apologize for the inconvenience . What does it matter how many items we have especially when ALL lines are busy and you do not have enough staffing . You should have said “I will take you today but it is an express lane from 1-18 items for next time” . The customers behind did not know this was an express either. I went through the garbage to check how many items she had, she was over by 3 items Thanks a lot for sending my sister back with her daughter to awkwardly maneuver the trolly to move to line 1 with her daughter. My original 1-star review is attached below, detailing the events that were responsible for this rating. Yesterday, I received a phone call from the Customer Service Manager from this location (in response to the survey we filled out from our receipt) who apologized and re-assured us that this would not happen again. I was pleasantly surprised by how this was handled by Freshco management and wanted to alter my review to reflect that.

"I just returned from this location after having had one of Freshco's employees belittle and borderline verbally harass my disabled girlfriend. She was trying to use a $3 coupon that she had every right to use and that was identical to a coupon she had used previously at this same location earlier in the week. For some reason, the employee at check-out attempted to deny her the right to use said coupon, spoke to her very rudely throughout the process of checking with her manager, continued to dehumanize her throughout the interaction, and after her manager informed her to process the coupon, this same employee chastised and belittled my girlfriend for donating what she bought with the coupon to goodwill moments later. Irrelevant of how this employee's day may or may not have been going and/or what hardship they may or may not be struggling with, this is not something that she/I/we needed today. Fresco is very convenient for myself and my husband to shop at, however we try to avoid your store because every single time we come into your store, it's like a meeting place for young adults, they stand around talking , they don't move when u try to get by, they honestly make the store sloppy, when you try to look at any item in any isle at any time you are blocked someway, somehow, it's absolutely annoying, tonight being Sunday, I came into your store around 8:30 PM, crowds of these young adults everywhere, I am not sure why it's a hangout or even why your store condones it being a hangout, but living in the neighborhood I was excited for your store to open, now at this point we try and avoid it like the plague. I have spoken with many of our neighbors and it's unanimous, we would sooner drive across town to retrieve our groceries than shop at your "hangout", please, you would have a good no great store if you hadn't allowed it to be turned into a meeting place!! There are groups inside and outside, it is very uncomfortable to say the least. I apologize for being negative, I sincerely love Freshco stores however we have never encountered any other Freshco stores to be a hangout, you come in do your shopping and you leave, not block isles and be disrespectful to your fellow neighbors which is very disheartening.
