Mai Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Niagara Falls

I would not recommend this place to anyone!!!! Beware!! My family of 4 ended up ordering 2 pad thai dishes (chicken and shrimp) and a pineapple fried rice. When my kids and I received our pad thai dishes, the shrimp was spoiled. We called the waiter over to tell him that there was something wrong with the shrimp. The shrimp tasted rancid, bitter and uncooked. We all spit out the shrimp in our napkins because it was so foul to swallow. The owner ended up coming over and accusing us that it was because "we did not like shrimp". We told her that we eat seafood all the time and there was definitely something wrong with the shrimp. She said they get all their shrimp from Costco and they boil everything first before they put it in any dishes. We told her again that the shrimp was spoiled. The waiter ended up telling us that he's a "culinary master" and it was our taste buds that were not right. We asked the owner if she could take this off our bill (since we only took 1-2 bites of food) and she said the best she could do was offer us 10 percent off. She did not even offer to make us other dishes until later on after arguing with her about her customer service. She said by ordering more food, was hurting their business. We were the only customers in her restaurant at the time and it was lunch time. We told her again that her food was spoiled and we refuse to eat it because we did not want to get sick. She refused to do anything for us and brought us our bill. We said our small kids are hungry and she finally offered to remake something for them to eat. By the end, she charged us for veggie fried rice (as we refused to eat any more of their meats/seafood items), 1 pop and my husbands pineapple fried rice. This situation was so upsetting as we were all hungry, and the owner refused to do anything about the spoiled dishes at first, while accusing us about "not liking shrimp" We ended up taking the kids next door to Tim Hortons as we did not want to be in the restaurant any longer. By the end the owner apologized for acting irrational and yelling at us but that does not make up for the fact that she refused to do anything for us initially. We packed our food to go that we paid for. We will never go back to this restaurant nor recommend this place to anyone. The customer service is horrible. Instead of going to our original place for wonton soup we decided to try this place. Well a mistake that was. There menu online and on google show the wrong prices. I called for a pickup order of 1 coconut soup, 1 hot and sour soup and shrimp fresh rolls. I was in the middle of a hike so we checked menu and it said $14.49 for coconut soup and 15.49 for the hot and sour then you had to pay extra for protein so when I talked to the guy on the phone he said it was included. Anyways I went to pickup our meal and our order came to $57.00 and I found our soups were $18.49 and $18.99 each I showed the guy at the cash that there website and google said the prices mention up top. He brought it to the back of the restaurant and came back and said I haven’t seen this in two years. That the price on the receipt is what you owe and made no effort to adjust the price. Since we were both hungry from the hike we accepted the food. Never in my life would I pay $19 for a bowl of soup. So once we got home and ate figuring that with what we paid the food would be good we were wrong. I’m guessing that’s why the restaurant was empty when I went to pick up our food. I live local to this place the last few years. We are still discovering the local cuisine. Moving from GTA. Yesterday my wife was felling like have some Thai. Google search and a few place came up. We decided to try this one. Never again. 2 star rating. One for friendliness. One for cleanness. Price as expected. We ordered Pad Thai, yellow curry and Thai fried rice. Im not sure how long it takes to make these dishes, but it came out faster than it would take to boil a cup of water for tea. Never again. Food was not authentic.
