My partner and I were in a bind. She needed wifi for a remote work project that got dumped on her last minute. The hostel was the only place that had a room, though it was their en-suite meant for five people. We asked if they had internet and a bathtub. They said yes and yes, so we paid the $200. We got up to the room. The bathtub had been covered with wood and had a 'DO NOT USE' sign on it. The wifi network they'd provided us with had no signal. The two things we had asked for were unavailable. On top of that, no food was allowed in the room, and the 'en-suite' was a few bunk beds with a view that looked back onto their storage space and some neighbouring homes. After realizing a previous last minute hotel booking had actually gone through, we left. We were in and out in 15 minutes and were told by the receptionist to contact the manager for a refund. A couple days later, thru email, the manager declined us not only our money, but any degree of understanding or humanity. We were told they had to turn away guests because of us, but I somehow doubt the 15 minutes we were in the hostel could've had such a drastic impact. We understand times are tough with how the pandemic has affected tourism, but seems like a poor business model in an era when reviews like these are available for all to see. And for what? $200? Maybe rethink what comes first: the money, or your potential clientelle? TL;DR: Overcharged, under-delivered, and denied a refund after checking both in and out within fifteen minutes.

Tofino Hostel is really one of the most beautiful places to be - at least for me😍 At first because of the location! It is situated at the coast of the harbour bay, you always have a beautiful view from within or outside. On the other hand it's just a 10 minutes walk to the closest beach, Tonquin Beach! By the way the walk to this beach is gorgeous itself- the well prepared wooden pathway with a lot of steps through the typical Pacific Rim forrest is a MUST DO in Tofino! On the other hand the hostel prepares really everything for a great experience at this special place! The great room and the kitchen for hanging out there is very cosy and provided with everything you need to prepare your own meals. The great room also has a nice fire place in the middle -so that you can warm up during cold or rainy days! The rooms are very well equipped and big enough even for a longer stay! The staff was very friendly and helpful in every way! The other most important part concerning the hostel was the cleanliness! Everything was regularly cleaned and wiped by the staff so that one can really feel comfortable at every second. This was the same at the shower rooms and toilets! So Tofino Hostel on Vancouver Island really gets a 10 out of 10 😍

Excellent experience staying at this hostel/guesthouse! It's exceptionally clean, the kitchen is well organized and has a great system for each guest to store food if they would like. The beds are comfy and guests really respect the quiet hours which made for a relaxing stay. I was a solo female and stayed in the co-ed 6 bed room (which i was nervous about when booking) but I had an amazing stay! The common bathrooms are really clean and lots of space in the shower stalls. Never had to wait for a shower to be available or a toliet or sink. The dining room has an amazing view of the tofino harbour/marina. The staff were so friendly and helpful and came to my rescue when I left a luggage bag behind. They assisted with making sure the bag was safe and Fed Ex picked it up fine. I will definitely be back very soon, and highly recommend this place. Best value accommodation in Tofino.

I had a very bad experience with the reservation itself : My son was travelling to Canada and I made the reservations for him. Tofino is very expensive and this was expensive but still the most reasonable option. Even for a private room with shared bathroom the price was over 200 CAD. However when I booked, they did not have the same type of private room for the 5 nights so I had to book 3 different rooms which is very inconvenient (for my son and for the hotel). This is one of the cheaper options available in Tofino in a town which seems to be expensive all year long. The hostel itself is decent but not my favourite HI in Canada as especially with Covid the common area space is small with just 3 inside tables to eat at. The mens toilets also weren't working so you had to walk downstairs to use those. We stayed in room E which both had the noise of the hallways/stairs and the men's shower was against our wall where the bed is, so we could hear...
