So let me get this straight, the seating area has now been cut in half as they now have a "laptops not allowed" section??? I showed up today with my wife and brother in law as we wanted to study and have some coffee and cookies as we always have. to our surprise we were unable to, the only tables that were available for seating now have signs on them that say "laptops not allowed". As I was puzzled by the sign on the table thinking it might be a joke I politely lined up and waited to ask an employee if I could still use the table to study even though it was in the "no laptop" section. the employee simply replied with a harsh "NO". I explained to her that the other section with laptops is completely full but she still replied no. Pretty disappointing... why offer wifi if I can't even use my laptop? the "no laptop" section was half empty so why not allow me to just use my laptop anyways? why do you have such a waste of space in the middle of the room where all the seating is? why not insert a long communal study table in the middle of the room and have regular seating along the sides? with a long communal study table you can easily fit another 20 people that can use their laptops and wouldn't affect your seating for patrons who just wanna chat and have a coffee. you guys seriously dropped the ball on the seating design. no coffee shop that I know of limits laptop usage by seating. we will not be returning to this place.
oh and here's the kicker, you cant use your laptop on those tables but if you wanna just lay all of your books out and hog the table all by yourself for 4...
Read moreArrived here a few minutes before their 7 am opening as I had just gotten off the GO bus and walked over.
The ambiance of this place is quite neat. They kept the lights dimmed, and the sun had yet to rise so the place was a little dark. It did make their wall decor with the light beams look extra cool though. I imagine this place would have a really nice warm feel when the sun is up, since they have lots of windows and the place has a minimal look to it. Overall, the shop looked decently clean and tidy.
I went up to the counter (right side when you walk in) to order a mocha and then went across the room to their bar area (left side of the room upon entering) to pick up my drink - interesting concept to separate the two. The mocha was tasty; not very sweet and/or chocolate-y which was nice since the aroma of the coffee really shined through. It was also very smooth to drink. I was tempted to try their beverages with soy milk, however, an added charge of $1.10 seems a bit pricey, at least compared to other coffee shops I've been to. Edit: a fellow Yelper brings up a good point re: the temporary halt in using dine-in mugs during the COVID-19 outbreak. I wish I could have captured how cute their dine-in mugs are, but better safe than sorry! Their black paper cups do have an elevated look to them though which is pretty neat.
The employees were quite nice, though they didn't say too much - but considering the time of day, I didn't really mind it to be honest.

Read moreEvery drink I've had here was delicious. My favourite is a the latte, which has been perfect every time. The cold brew is also very good. Just be careful because it's quite strong in flavour compared to other cold brews I've has, but if that doesn't scare you, you're in for a delicious cold brew. And of course the normal brewed coffee is delicious, I prefer their dark roast blend, which is quite flavourful.
They also serve a "quantum plank" which is a custom drink that changes every month. I haven't tried it yet, but some examples is the creme brulee cappuccino and the espresso and cola drinks.
The pastries are delicious if you're looking for something to eat with your coffee. I recommend the almond croissant (I wish I could eat it every day)
The staff is super nice and are always trying their best to make the experience perfect. One morning they were having lots of issues with the credit card machines, which was causing delays, and they handled it perfectly without making any one mad.
It is quite hard to find a place to sit sometimes tho, which is understandable considering the downtown location, so this might not be the best option to have coffee and sit down with people during peak times (weekends are bad).
Also, it might be confusing how it works. Your order at the counter at the right and you pickup your coffee at the counter on the left. (took me a few seconds to understand that the first time...
