The worst experience ever in Toronto happened in this T&T. Store manager didn’t bother to address the matter in person after 3 attempts! You would be treat as a thief by your own color and they won’t stop that behaviour. What I experienced was on Apr.11, I go T&T on a weekly basis. I first walked to Lucky Moose brought a live fresh fish, Spring roll skins and other items worth over 20$ that don’t sell in T&T. I carried my groceries arrived in T&T. The man in the pic was arranging all the shopping baskets so I waited behind him to grab one. He saw me and suddenly pointed to my groceries questioned me like a authority in Chinese: What are these?! I was confused by his tone asked him why? and is this the way you talk?He shouted to me again: I asked you what are these! Excuse me? what is your business? Obviously he didn’t ask with good will but treated me as a thief. I told him he has no right to ask. And he can see these are groceries from Lucky Moose. I am not obligated to answer his indecorum. And he is only a sanitary staff, not a police officer, he has no right to search me first then let me in, and absolutely had no right to speak to me in that rude offensive tone! He didn’t apologize but continue arguing with me. He lied saying he wanted to see if I had to store my belongs. He didn’t and they don’t have that service at all. A woman suddenly grab my shoulders and dragged me entering inside the supermarket and continued dragged me in the fruits section. It’s Covid! I didn’t want to be moved away but she physically and verbally forced me to ignore him. I asked who she is, she is a staff. She left, I was so upset and realized that how come she didn’t stop him or no one came to stop him from yelling but physically controlling me. They just don’t want other customers to hear what’s going on. I was hungry and thirsty and feeling unfair, disgraced and helpless. I had to speak to the manager. A staff directed me to the checkout, Maggie, not a manager, and didn’t show courtesy or patience, she said she will talk to him afterwords. While I was telling her the story that he has no right to question me or search me without starting shopping. This man jumped out again and shouted to me twice that: I have right! I have right! I told him to stay away from me and I don’t want to talk to him in English. He shouted to me in Mandarin: Chinese speaks Chinese! The security man came and apologized to me. And I questioned Maggie why not stop his behaviour, it’s like he can do whatever he likes and no one would control him but the customer! Since Maggie cannot ask him to apologize to me, and I asked her so what about my bad experience? She asked me to finish shopping and offered me their employee discount. I tried but still don’t feel right to continue. Thinking I spent over 3K since they open. I was a regular customer in the lakeside T&T(closed). I wear Canada Goose worths 1400$, Nike, I hold iPhone Pro Max 12, Apple Watch and AirPods, and 3 groceries bags. How come being related to a thief? And I didn’t even enter inside yet! Maybe many customers didn’t know what happened, thought I was being caught? I just need to talk to a real manager. I asked to speak to the manager, but a manager on duty came, she was courteous, attentive listening, acknowledging and admitting their misconduct. She said because they had serious stealing issues lately, this staff’s behaviour was inappropriate and wrong. I was wrongfully treated because of their misfortune! I suggested her make aware of the customers, publish warnings by the entrance, and your intention to scan all customers without discriminating your own people. I saw many people other than Chinese putting foods inside their backpacks, no one stopping them! She said store manager and they will check camera and call me back tomorrow. I spent 67$, the discount was 6$ without points.Instead the manager, she called saying the manager had meeting watched video confirmed what I said, coached them and sorry. Talked 40mins, she said she can do her best to offer 10$, but didn’t want to offer at...

I never felt compelled to leave a review for T&T, but my experience has been repeatedly less-than-ideal in the past few months, particularly today.

NOTE: the store itself and the variety of items available are great, albeit more pricy than comparable Chinese grocery stores in the area.

The meat / butcher section is awful. Today, I witnessed a customer being straight up yelled at by a woman working behind the counter. The customer wasn't even requesting anything outrageous, simply soft-spoken and requested a specific piece of chicken breast in the display. That was met with annoyance and an aggressive tone by the person working there. After that, I didn't feel comfortable engaging with them and left. Based on SEVERAL 1-star reviews within the past MONTH regarding the meat counter, this seems to be a recurring issue. In past visits, I have also been ignored while waiting at the counter as well.

There is no space to walk. The wave of customers, I understand. However I cannot comprehend why your store feels the need to have workers reorganize and stock shelves at every single corner during the busiest periods. I understand they have to work and the store needs to squeeze out as much revenue by making the shelves fully stocked up and pretty, but why do you need workers tidying non-perishable goods when there's a line extending all the way to the back of the store? Surely, you must have some data or metrics on optimal times throughout the day to re-stock and stagger your workers' presence in the store? Or I don't know, the majority of 1-star reviews that address this particular issue? + What's with all the boxes on the floor? There's already no space to move, and yet you're using the main area for storage. ++ Shouldn't you have some sort of store capacity?

Not only is the shopping experience physically suffocating, but because you have no line or crowd management, it's such an awful experience going through checkout, unless it's self-checkout. The cashiers are friendly, but checkout is extremely rushed from bringing the items on the counter, packing everything myself, scanning my T&T rewards card, paying for the transaction, getting the receipt and having my stuff being pushed to the edge as they start scanning the next customer's items before I receive the receipt. At least set up some tables nearby so we can pack our items in peace.

I'm not looking for a white-glove service at a grocery store of all places, but you have to do better. Not to mention, all of these issues, based on reading past reviews, have been posted by others for years. You're not a small, privately owned grocery store in Chinatown. You're a nationwide chain that also happens to be a subsidiary of the largest grocery chain in Canada, regardless of whether you "independently operate" or not. There's...

Terrible Experience at T&T Supermarket College Store

I had an extremely disappointing experience at T&T Supermarket College Store (297 College St. Toronto, On M5T0C2) today at 7pm on Jan. 14, 2024.

Before going there this evening, I called the store yesterday to check if they had Angel yeast (漉çȘç”œé…’é…żïŒ‰ which I needed for making sweet rice wine. I was assured that they did have it. Given the cold weather today, I specifically took a bus after work to reach the store in downtown. However, upon arrival, I couldn't find the Angel yeast. When I asked the front - desk staff for help, she said she would call the relevant department, but I was left waiting for a long time with no one attending to me. Everyone in the store seemed busy, but completely ignored me, a paying customer.

Finally, a kind person who was tidying up the shopping carts heard my request and led me to the department. But to my shock, the staff there told me that they were out of stock. I was extremely frustrated because when I called, they didn't even bother to check and simply told me they had it, which made me make this fruitless trip on a freezing cold evening after work, wasting my time and money on the bus fare.

This kind of attitude is far from that of its parent company Loblaws, as well as other stores like Sobey's and Shopper Drug Mart. I've called these stores before to inquire about products, and they always check for me and give accurate answers. When I go there, the products are always available.

The customer service at T&T Supermarket College Store is abysmal. I was left waiting for 20 - 30 minutes without any attention. It seems like they are more focused on making money than taking care of customers. After learning that they didn't have the product, I felt deceived and fooled. I put back all the items I had picked up and was about to check out. I've decided that I will never buy anything from this store again, nor will I ever step foot in it.

I strongly warn others to think twice before choosing this store. Save your time and energy, and go to stores that actually value...

Compressed downtown location of T&T Supermarket located near College and Spadina. Great alternative location from the original Cherry Beach spot. Not bad to stop by and grab some snacks to go! It does get fairly busy during weekends and after work hours. Try and go on off-hours as the weekends will have line-ups wrapping all the way to the meat section/frozen aisles at peak periods! They have the bare necessities and diverse products that still to cover the basic shopping list. The products all look decently displayed. They have the usual produce, meat, seafood, aisles for packaged goods, home products and hot counter. They offer the Chinese BBQ as well. Lots of product to fit in a tiny second floor unit. They incorporated the main lobby entrance floor with limited seating around 10-15 people if you want to sit and eat. Wish there was more space to this store location, however still decent for what they've settled with. Limited based on unit space and they've tried really hard to pack a lot in from aisles to fruit and veg to hot foods sections. The navigation and arrangement of this store is a bit more confusing for sure and still tries to mimic the standard T&T layout. The cashier area is very limited and tight. Also, they have the self-checkout counters. During the pandemic times, they have someone monitoring the checkout section so be sure to listen to their directions. Note: Use the front entrance near the vegetables to get to the ready-to-eat food section.

I put back all the items I had picked up and was about to check out. I've decided that I will never buy anything from this store again, nor will I ever step foot in it. I strongly warn others to think twice before choosing this store. Save your time and energy, and go to stores that actually value their customers.
